TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Minister of Defense, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, inaugurated Deodatus Andreas Deddy Cahyadi Sunjoyo, or Deddy Corbuzier, as his special staff on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. Sjafrie announced the news via post on Instagram.
Apart from Deddy, Sjafrie also inaugurated five other special staff members. They are Lenis Kogoya, Kris Wijoyo Soepandji, Major General (Ret.) Sudrajat, Indra Irawan, and Sylvia Efi Widyantari Sumarlin.
"I inaugurated the Minister of Defense's Special Staff and Bestowal of the Dharma Pertahanan Medal at the Ministry of Defense Office in Jakarta," wrote Sjafrie, quoted from his Instagram account on Tuesday, February 11.
So, how much salary and benefits will Deddy Corbuzier receive as a special staff?
Salary of Defense Minister's Special Staff
According to Presidential Regulation No. 140 of 2024 on the Organization of State Ministries, the financial entitlements and other benefits granted to the minister's special staff are at most equivalent to those of a structural position at echelon I.b or a high-ranking middle leadership position.
Referring to Government Regulation (PP) No. 100 of 2000 juncto PP No. 13 of 2002—cited from a document on the Ministry of Education and Culture website—an echelon I.b structural position or high-ranking middle leadership role is equivalent to a civil servant (PNS) in grade IV/d.
The base salary for civil servants in grade IV/d ranges from Rp3,723,000 to Rp6,114,500 per month, depending on their length of service (0-32 years). This provision is regulated under PP No. 5 of 2024, which serves as the 19th amendment to PP No. 7 of 1977 on Civil Servant Salary Regulations.
Benefit of Defense Minister's Special Staff
In addition to a basic salary, Deddy Corbuzier, as the special staff to the Defense Minister, will also receive a performance allowance (tunjangan kinerja or tukin). Referring to Ministerial Decree No. 1542/KPTS/M/2023 from the Ministry of Public Works and Housing regarding job titles, job classes, and performance allowances, a high-ranking middle leadership position is equivalent to job class 16-17.
Meanwhile, Presidential Regulation No. 104 of 2018 on Performance Allowances for Employees in the Ministry of Defense states that employees in job class 16 receive an allowance of Rp20,695,000 per month, while those in job class 17 receive Rp29,085,000 per month.
Additionally, Deddy Corbuzier will be entitled to various allowances similar to those received by civil servants (PNS), including structural/functional position allowances, general allowances, spouse and child allowances, food/rice allowances, a 13th-month salary, and a religious holiday allowance (THR or 14th-month salary).
As a result, his total monthly earnings as special staff to the Defense Minister will range from Rp24,418,000 to Rp26,809,500, derived from his base salary and tukin. However, this amount does not include additional allowances or other benefits.
As special staff, Deddy Corbuzier's role is to provide advice and recommendations to the Defense Minister based on specific assignments outside the regular duties of the ministry’s organizational units.
