Aaron Ramsey's family have shared a heartbreaking update about the former Arsenal star's missing dog Halo after she vanished in Mexico at the beginning of last month.
The 10-year-old beagle was last seen in San Miguel de Allende, and was wearing a tracking collar when she disappeared.
But despite the ongoing search to find Halo - and a reward of $20,000 offered if she was found - the family are in the process of coming to terms with the possibility that she will not return home.
In a statement shared by the family on Monday, they admitted that they are 'trying to accept that she has most likely passed away'.
The statement continued, as per BBC Sport: 'We don't think we will ever know what happened.
'We won't "move on" from this as you would typically. This will continue to haunt us.'

Halo went missing on October 9, and Ramsey and his wife Colleen shared information on her last location via their social media profiles in Spanish in a bid to galvanise the local community into joining the search.
Despite Colleen continuing to appeal for information and volunteers distributing posters on the ground in Mexico however, the family are no closer to finding answers.
The Ramsey family are believed to have been told of Halo's disappearance from the ranch where she had been staying one week after it took place.
Colleen has spoken publicly about the family's anguish and suggested that they have 'serious questions' surrounding the disappearance.
The former Juventus star had initially offered a $10,000 reward for information, but, with no progress after a week, later increased the figure.
In an earlier social media plea, Ramsey wrote: 'Any news about our Halo please contact us. Big reward for finding her. We are all praying she's OK and can be back with us soon.'
He followed that with another post saying: 'We just want our girl back.'

A recent photo shared by the midfielder shows Halo asleep in his arms, with Ramsey captioning the image: 'What I'd do to hold you one last time Halo.'
The sad news for the Ramsey family, which includes children Sonny 10, and Tomas and Teddy, both eight, comes during a difficult time for the player, who is believed to have terminated his contract with Mexican side Pumas UNAM after making just six appearances for the Liga MX club.
The Wales international joined his new team in July, but amid recovery from a hamstring injury, has failed to settle into the squad despite his wealth of experience playing in Europe's top leagues.
