Tempo.co, Jakarta - Donald Trump was inaugurated as the President of the United States on Monday afternoon, January 20, 2025, local time. Trump became the second president in American history to serve two non-consecutive terms, following Grover Cleveland. He holds the position of the 47th President of the United States.

Since his inauguration as president, Trump has planned to implement a series of policies, from declaring a national energy emergency to withdrawing from the World Health Organization (WHO).

1. United States National Energy Emergency

Quoted from Antara, in his inaugural speech, Trump declared that the United States is in a national energy emergency. According to him, a massive spending and rising energy prices have led to an inflation crisis in America.

He stated that the U.S. possesses a vast amount of oil and gas. The use of these resources will be aimed at addressing the energy emergency. "We will use it. We will lower prices, refill our strategic reserves to full capacity, and export American energy worldwide," said Trump.

2. United States Withdraws from WHO

For the second time, Trump has pulled the United States out of the World Health Organization (WHO). The White House announced this a few hours after he was sworn in as president.

Quoted from USA Today, this first-day executive order fulfilled Trump's campaign promise to reject global institutions. Health experts are concerned that this move will isolate the U.S., with consequences for responding to pandemics and diseases, as well as for diplomatic relations worldwide.

3. Inauguration Location Changes

Quoted from the U.S. Senate website and US News, the inauguration ceremony for Trump and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance was held inside the U.S. Capitol. Initially, the ceremony was planned to be held outdoors, on the west side of the Capitol facing a park called the National Mall in Washington, D.C. However, the decision was changed due to the extreme cold temperatures.

4. Attended by Former Presidents

Three former presidents, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton, attended Trump's inauguration. The event was also attended by outgoing leaders, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

Trump's guest list also included international figures such as Argentine President Javier Milei, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, French politician Eric Zemmour, and British Member of Parliament Nigel Farage.

5. Inauguration Event Costs

As of January 8, Donald Trump's inauguration fund had reached $170 million. Apple CEO Tim Cook has reportedly donated $1 million to the inauguration ceremony.

Some estimate that the total amount will exceed $200 million by the time of the event. Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta have pledged to contribute $1 million each, along with Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, who also donated $1 million.
