TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Apple officially introduced the iPhone 16E, the latest model in the iPhone 16 series, replacing the iPhone SE lineup. The design of the iPhone 16E is similar to the iPhone 14, but with several improvements, including the use of the A18 chip, Apple Intelligence support, and Apple's first cellular modem, the C1.
"The iPhone 16E is equipped with various features favored by users from the iPhone 16 series, including breakthrough battery power, fast performance supported by the latest generation A18 chip, an innovative 2-in-1 camera system, and Apple Intelligence," said Kaiann Drance, Vice President of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing at Apple, as quoted from Apple's official website.
iPhone 16E Specifications
As quoted from the Apple website, the iPhone 16E features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a resolution of 2532 x 1170 pixels and a density of 460 ppi. This display supports HDR, True Tone, and Wide Color (P3), and is coated with Ceramic Shield, claimed to be the toughest glass on a smartphone. The screen brightness reaches 800 nits (standard) and 1,200 nits (HDR), ensuring clear visibility in various lighting conditions.
Equipped with the A18 chip, the iPhone 16E offers 80% faster performance compared to the iPhone 11, which uses the A13 Bionic chip. There is also an improvement in machine learning capabilities, claimed to be six times faster than the A13 Bionic.
Furthermore, the iPhone 16E features a 48MP main camera equipped with optical image stabilization (OIS) and Hybrid Focus Pixels. This camera supports 2x optical zoom, night mode, and features such as Photonic Engine, Deep Fusion, and Smart HDR 5.
The phone is also equipped with 4K Dolby Vision video recording at various frame rates, night mode for photos and time-lapse, portrait mode with Depth Control and Portrait Lighting, panorama up to 63MP and Smart HDR 5, as well as spatial audio recording and wind noise reduction. The 12MP TrueDepth front camera also supports autofocus, Night Mode, Smart HDR 5, as well as 4K Dolby Vision video recording and slow-motion.
iOS 18 on the iPhone 16E makes it one of the models that support Apple Intelligence (AI). The AI system offers various features such as clean-up to automatically remove distracting objects from photos, natural language-based photo search, Genmoji to generate AI-based emojis, and a smarter Siri with improved contextual understanding and optional integration with ChatGPT.
Furthermore, the iPhone 16E is equipped with Apple's C1 modem. The C1 is the first modem designed by Apple to provide fast and reliable 5G cellular connectivity. There is also an Action Button that allows users to easily access various functions with a single press. This feature can be customized for quick access to apps like camera, Shazam, and Snapchat.
For the battery, the iPhone 16E lasts up to 12 hours longer than the iPhone SE. The device can play videos for up to 26 hours, stream videos for up to 21 hours, and play audio for up to 90 hours. With a 20W USB-C adapter, the device can be charged to 50% in 30 minutes.
The iPhone 16E is also designed with environmental considerations. Apple uses 100% recycled cobalt in its battery, 95% recycled lithium, and 85% recycled aluminum in the device's body. The iPhone 16E is IP68 certified, which means it is water-resistant up to a depth of 6 meters for 30 minutes.
