New era

I have just seen a pretty crazy stat.

People have been calling this a new era for Tottenham, and well, this statistic I am about to share really shows it.

This will be the first Premier League north London derby without either Harry Kane or Son Heung-min appearing for Tottenham since a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium in September 2014.

Between them, Kane (14) and Son (8) are responsible for 27 per cent of Spurs’ Premier League goals against Arsenal (22/82).

It's going to feel a little weird without at least one of them playing, I can't lie.

Who will step up in their absence?

Arteta: 'The derby is just different'

Mikel Arteta, Arsenal manager, on the emotions of the derby:

It’s just different. It’s a big city, but it’s a big rivalry; it’s a part of London that we want to conquer, and they want to do the same. There’s been a lot of shifts as well over the years, we’ve been more dominant and it’s just beautiful, especially when we play at home in front of our people, we know what it means to them. The energy that they’re going to bring, the energy that the team is going to bring in every single action, it’s just a privilege to play those kind of games. We cannot wait to get to Sunday.

'Spurs can do somethig from set pieces'

Sandro, former Tottenham midfielder, speaking to Northerner snus online:

I think because of the game, you have to feel the moments. If you feel that you are on top of them, Spurs really have to go for it. Really go and try to score, not act like they are too strong. We have to go there to The Emirates to show everyone that we can win!If we are going there thinking that we are going to score later, if we let them play their style against us, we are done for because they are a strong side. They can play when they have the ball as well - they are strong in the back but they can also keep the ball.I think they have good midfielders as well, like Declan Rice, he's playing really well at the moment. But I think there are good signs, because we are good at set-pieces as well, and I think we can do something from set-pieces. Romero is so good in the air. My guess is that I think Romero will score from a free-kick, or from a set-piece. I am going to say that Romero will score with a header!

15 years of hurt

While Arsenal fans are most likely confident today, Tottenham fans will be bricking it.

I mean it, their recent record in this fixture is honking.

Tottenham have lost seven of their last nine Premier League games against Arsenal (W1 D1), as many defeats as they’d suffered in their previous 25 north London derbies (W9 D9).

In fact, they have won just one of their last 32 Premier League away games against Arsenal, last winning 3-2 in November 2010.

So yeah, nerves will be jangling in that away end.

'Arsenal will win comfortably'

Chris Sutton, former Premier League striker, on BBC Sport:

Tottenham have got the best away record in the Premier League, with four wins and one draw so far, but this is their biggest test yet. While Spurs have picked up some good results, I have still been disappointed with their frontline, and their attacking players have not really connected. That is going to be the issue for them at Emirates Stadium, and the big difference with Arsenal is that you always feel like they are going to score. They are going to give a few teams a walloping, and Spurs could be one of them.I started off thinking that this game was going to be reasonably close but, the more I think about it, the more I feel like Arsenal will win comfortably.

Atmosphere building

Guys, I can't tell you how excited I am for this game... honestly, I'm just itching for the next hour to pass so we can get to kick-off.

So, if I am like this as a neutral reporter, just imagine the emotions of these fans as they approach the stadium.

I was with an Arsenal fan earlier and they said they had ZERO nerves for the game, which shocked me a little.

Are Arsenal fans too confident? I mean, they might be, but I think they have a right to be.

They very rarely lose the derby these days.

Tottenham Team News - Danso STARTS

Interesting, very interesting...

Thomas Frank has decided to go with a back three as Kevin Danso returns to the fold.

Mohammed Kudus also starts but Xavi Simons has to make do with a spot on the bench.

Arsenal Team News - Hincapie STARTS

Mikel Arteta has named his team of warriors.

Piero Hincapie comes in for the injured Gabriel, which is a pretty big call from the Arsenal boss.

Mikel Merino starts up top, while Noni Madueke is back on the bench after two months out.

Happy with this team, Gunners fans?

'Spurs players very dapper'

The Spurs players looked very dapper in their pre-match stroll around the pitch. They were wearing dark suits and open-necked white shirts, which gave the vague impression they'd come straight from all-night poker game.

Suited and booted

I didn't know this was a final??

Usually, you only see football teams turn up to finals suited and booted like this, or maybe in Europe, but Tottenham have turned on the style as they arrive at the Emirates.

I mean, to both teams, this is the equivalent of a final.

The starting line-ups are out, but I just want to gatekeep them from you for a few minutes.

I'm such a tease, I know.

Can Arsenal go six points clear?

It's been yet another perfect weekend for Arsenal.

I mean, each week results go their way; it's almost as if nobody wants to challenge the Gunners for the title.

They haven't even kicked a ball yet but Arsenal fans will be skipping toward the stadium with the feeling that they are about to take the title race by the horns.

Honestly, I can't see anybody stopping them this season if they beat Tottenham today.

Liverpool, well, are pants. Manchester City are inconsistent. Chelsea aren't quite ready yet.

It feels like this is Arsenal's time.

Yes, I know it's only November, but to go six points clear at this stage would be huge.

A massive day for Mikel Arteta and his side.

Weekend so far

It's been a monster first weekend back in the Premier League - too many headlines to rattle through.

Liverpool got dusted yet again, while Manchester City's weaknesses shone through at Newcastle.

But rather than go through every result one by one, it's probably just easier for me to list the scores.

So, here are the results from he weekend thus far:

SATURDAY

  • Burnley 0-2 Chelsea
  • Liverpool 0-3 Nottingham Forest
  • Fulham 1-0 Sunderland
  • Brighton 2-1 Brentford
  • Bournemouth 2-2 West Ham
  • Wolves 0-2 Crystal Palace
  • Newcastle 2-1 Manchester City

SUNDAY

  • Leeds 1-1 Aston Villa (latest)
