Arsenal starlet Max Dowman has signed scholarship terms with the club.

Dowman, 15, became the second youngest player to feature in the Premier League when he made his first-team debut in August.

He has been rewarded with fresh terms at Arsenal, with his scholarship to begin next season.

It paves the way for Dowman, one of the hottest young prospects in the country, to sign professional terms when he turns 17 next December.

Dowman has been training with Arsenal's first team since he was 14 but could have chosen any team to undertake his scholarship, given his level of talent.

Signing the new deal represents a boost for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta, who has given Dowman three first-team appearances already this season.

Mikel Arteta has been full of praise for Dowman, who has trained with the first team since he was 14

He made his debut against Leeds, winning a penalty after coming on as a late substitute in a 5-0 win. Dowman also featured in the 1-0 defeat by Liverpool in September and in the Carabao Cup victory at Port Vale.

'I think there is a kid with a level of maturity, stability and hunger that is very difficult to see,' Arteta said of Dowman in August.

'There is a kid here that has zero hesitation. He's so convinced that he can go at 15 and deliver that, which I have never witnessed in my life.

'And for us, it brings joy, it brings emotion and something else that makes our jobs so great.'

Arsenal star Gabriel has also been full of praise for Dowman. 'This guy is unbelievable!' He said.

'This is crazy (that he's only 15). I've never seen anything like him on the pitch.'
