TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts a sunny morning across West Jakarta today, Thursday, July 16, 2026. Meanwhile, the Seribu Islands will be partly cloudy.

During the day, cloudy and partly cloudy skies will loom over the capital, but it is expected to clear out once dusk falls.

Air temperatures in Jakarta will range between 25 and 35 degrees Celsius, with wind speeds of 3 to 29 kilometers per hour.

Similar weather is forecast across major cities in Indonesia, according to BMKG, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies expected.

In a BMKG broadcast from Jakarta, regions expecting sunny to partly cloudy weather include Banda Aceh, Jambi, Bengkulu, Palembang, Pangkal Pinang, Bandar Lampung, Serang, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Palangka Raya, and Samarinda.

"Meanwhile, in eastern Indonesia, similar conditions are predicted to occur in Denpasar, Mataram, Kupang, Makassar, Kendari, Gorontalo, Manado, Ternate, Ambon, Sorong, Jayapura, and Jayawijaya," said BMKG forecaster Ranika Dwi A.

BMKG explained that current atmospheric dynamics are influenced by the formation of wind convergence zones in several regions, including from the west coast of Malaysia to the Strait of Malacca, the Andaman Sea, West Kalimantan to the Natuna Sea, South Kalimantan to Central Kalimantan.

In addition, wind confluence zones have been observed in the northern part of the Strait of Malacca, the Andaman Sea, the South China Sea, the Sulu Sea, the Philippine Sea, and the Pacific Ocean north of Halmahera Island to northern Papua.

These conditions have the potential to increase the growth of rain clouds along the areas they pass through.

BMKG has warned of the chance for a drizzle in Medan, Tanjung Pinang, Pontianak, Tanjung Selor, Banjarmasin, Mamuju, Palu, Manokwari, and Nabire.

The agency's weather forecast is also looking for hazy air in Pekanbaru and Merauke, while haze is likely to appear in Padang.

BMKG urges the public to keep up with the latest weather update through its official channels to anticipate potential changes in weather conditions in their respective areas.
