TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Rain has the potential to fall throughout Jakarta today, Monday, February 17, 2025. Quoting the weather forecast from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the potential for rain is divided into light rain and high intensity rain that can be accompanied by lightning.
Areas that are predicted to experience light rain in the Greater Jakarta area are West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, and the Seribu Islands. Meanwhile, heavy rain that can be accompanied by lightning is likely to fall in South and East Jakarta.
Heavy rain accompanied by lightning is also possible in the areas of Bogor City, Tangerang City, and South Tangerang City today. Bogor Regency, Depok City, and Tangerang Regency are predicted to experience moderate intensity rain.
Meanwhile, rain in Bekasi Regency and City is likely to be light intensity. Overall, there is no early weather warning for the Jakarta area and its surroundings from BMKG this morning.
In a previous statement, BMKG said that the loss of the influence of Tropical Cyclone Zelia and cyclone seed 93W no longer affects the weather and wind patterns in the Indonesian region. As is known, Zelia has drawn clouds from the southern part of Indonesia last week.
However, the Asian Monsoon which is predicted to still be active and the potential for Cold Surge which brings wet and cold air masses to the Indonesian region need to be watched out for increasing the potential for rain in the Indonesian region. "In addition, various other atmospheric phenomena are also monitored as active and have the potential to increase rainfall in Indonesia," said BMKG in the Weather Prospect for February 14-20, 2025.
At that time, the BMKG, among others, predicted that the period of February 17-20, 2025, the Indonesian region would still be dominated by cloudy to light rain. The potential for heavy - very heavy rain is in the regions of West Java, Central Java, East Java, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, West Sulawesi.
