TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – For the first time in several days, the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) weather forecast for Jakarta has not indicated any potential for rain. This is consistent with the predictions for Central Jakarta, South Jakarta, and East Jakarta throughout today, Sunday, January 25, 2026.

According to the BMKG website, the weather forecast for these three areas is only cloudy today. Although three other areas still have a chance of light rain, namely West Jakarta, North Jakarta, and the Seribu Islands.

Overall, the daily maximum air temperature for today has not been predicted to exceed 30 degrees Celsius. The air temperature range today in six areas of Jakarta is between 24-29 degrees, 25-28 degrees, and 26-28 degrees.

In the areas surrounding Jakarta, only Depok City is predicted to be free of rain today and only cloudy. The rest of the city will still experience rain, albeit with relatively light intensity throughout the day.

Remains on Alert Status

However, Jakarta, as well as West Java and Banten, which directly border it, are advised to remain vigilant today. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG)'s early weather warning states that there is still potential for moderate to heavy rainfall in Jakarta and its surrounding areas from January 24-26. This early warning level is below the warning (very heavy to extreme rainfall) and alert (heavy to very heavy rainfall) levels.

Previously, in its Weekly Weather Outlook for January 23-29, 2026, the BMKG explained that several factors are still contributing to rainy weather in Indonesia. Among these are a weak La Nina.

Similarly, there is the potential for increased Asian monsoon activity, accompanied by a predicted strengthening Cross-Equatorial Northerly Surge (CENS). As a result, moist air masses will move more quickly and easily across the equator towards southern Indonesia.

"This has resulted in an increase in extreme weather events in several regions in southern Indonesia, particularly southern Sumatra, Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara," the BMKG statement read.
