'Is that a red card?'

By Dominic King At Stadium Of Light

Is that a red card? Yes, it’s been given by Sam Barrott but it appears overwhelmingly harsh that Renildo Mandava has been banished and the course of the game has now been dramatically changed.
There will be something seriously wrong with Aston Villa if they don’t capitalise on a man advantage against a team who have just removed one of their best talents in Chris Rigg.

Bournemouth 0-0 Newcastle

The Vitality crowd comes alive as Semenyo bears down on goal but Dan Burn is there to step in and take it off him.

Newcastle will now get the chance to build as we edge towards half time, but Craig is right - so many players have been chucked into this side that it's hard for them.

Murphy is fine, by the way.

RED CARD! Sunderland 0-0 Aston Villa

Oh deary me.

Reinildo has been sent off for Sunderland for kicking out at Matty Cash. He was on the floor and sort of kicked upwards, if that makes sense.

This is a real chance for Villa now.

'So many in need of minutes'

By Craig Hope At Vitality Stadium

For Newcastle, it was always the danger starting with so many in need of minutes - there’s only 3 of the outfield 10 at 100 per cent coming into this game. They've looked a bit soft and slow so far.

INJURY! Bournemouth 0-0 Newcastle

Murphy has the ball taken off his toes by Truffert and looks to have rolled his ankle. He is down in a lot of pain and needs treatment.

That cross, by the way, smashed Tonali on the arm, but did take a flick off Botman in front of him. Could have been in trouble if not.

Murphy will try and continue.

Bournemouth 0-0 Newcastle

Scott has Bournemouth's latest effort from distance but he slices it over the bar.

Thiaw then fouls Brooks. Chance for the hosts to put the ball into the box...

Brooks sends in the out-swinger and Tonali and Botman get themselves in a tangle but eventually clear.

Semenyo with another long throw after a quick VAR check for handball. In it comes... Bournemouth can't get it down and they recycle possession.

Bournemouth 0-0 Newcastle

Good from Woltemade as he playing in Murphy on the right. He's in space but gets the pass wrong and Senesi intercepts.

The ball does, though, come back out to Tonali on the edge of the box, and he blazes over the bar. Just the one shot on target for both sides so far today.

Aston Villa are still yet to have a shot at the Stadium of Light, by the way...

Bournemouth 0-0 Newcastle

Sky have just shown the semi-automated offside frame (doesn't it take just as long anyway?) and we are talking inches. Newcastle very fortunate.

Newcastle have somewhat weathered the storm since, however. Bournemouth are still emjoying most of the ball, though.

As I type that, Evanilson brings a ball down for Scott in the box but he is also offside.

'Newcastle's resistance has been too soft'

By Craig Hope At Vitality Stadium

Brooks goal disallowed but it should be a warning for Newcastle. Their resistance has been too soft so far. Bournemouth getting by them too easy.

VAR - NO GOAL! Bournemouth 0-0 Newcastle

Oooooooh... I thought we had our opener.

Tavernier plays in Evanilson and his shot is blocked by Thiaw, but it falls to Brooks on the right. He fires in, but the flag is up.

For some reason we are getting some sort of referrring audio. I'm not sure which one, but they are talking about checking Brooks.

We then hear 'confirming on-field decision'. Anyway, it's off. But Newcastle have been warned.

'The only message that matters today'

By Dominic King At Stadium Of Light

Here's a pre-match snap from Sunderland featuring a Bradley Lowery tribute. The only message that matters today.
What a tremendous addition it is to have Sunderland back in the Premier League. If you have never visited with your team, it’s a must – the Stadium of Light is fantastic, one of the most atmospheric venues in the country.
The locals have been enthused by Sunderland’s positive start and it’s absolutely clear how crucial they will be in trying to help the team retain its status for another year. Been interesting to see how Chris Rigg fares this afternoon.

SAVE! Bournemouth 0-0 Newcastle

Tonali and Murphy link up well in Newcastle's first attack of the game and Petrovic saves from the latter from a tough angle.

Livramento then wins the visitors a corner. Petrovic punches, it's back into Woltemade and Scott clears off the line! The flag was up, bu the England Under-21 midfielder wasn't to know.

'Far removed from Barcelona'

By Craig Hope At Vitality Stadium

Newcastle are sitting in with a 5-4-1 formation here. It’s about as far removed from the fast & furious start vs Barcelona as you can get.

SAVE! Bournemouth 0-0 Newcastle

Fantastic play from Brooks as he enters the box from the right. He is in some form.

A backheel finds its way to Adams who shoots, and Pope clears with his feet, as we have seen a few times this season.

It results in a corner, which is cleared, but Bournemouth are still well on top here.

Bournemouth 0-0 Newcastle

It's very, very tight in that midfield. But Hall manages to work some space to put a cross in and Petrovic gathers.

Ooooh, Scott is so close to playing in Adams but his pass is intercepted. Brooks' cross then cleared by Thiaw, into the very vocal away end. Semenyo will wind up the long throw.

Flicked on by Diakite and Jimenez shoots. It's blocked, but Bournemouth keep the ball.

Bournemouth 0-0 Newcastle

Long ball from Bournemouth to start, and Nick Pope gathers.

I always feel like it's hard for bigger sides - if you like - coming to smaller, tigher grounds. Just not what they are used to.

Eddie Howe, however, is of course used to this ground.

It is indeed a back three for Newcastle, by the way. Craig was right, as per. Willock and Murphy either side of Woltemade.

Truffert puts in the first cross of the game, and the visitors clear via Hall.

KICK OFF: Bournemouth 0-0 Newcastle

By Lewis Browning

Right then, here we go.

The teams are on their ways out at Vitality, led by David Brooks and Dan Burn, who step in for Adam Smith and Bruno Guimaraes respectively as captains today.

Any fantasy interest for anyone? Semenyo and Senesi for me.

Anyway. Premier League anthem, handshakes, and we're about to get underway.

Here we go! Evanilson gets us underway for the hosts.

Harry Redknapp's prediction

By Lewis Browning

Harry Redknapp, former Bournemouth manager, speaking to BetVictor:

What a start this has been for Bournemouth, despite all the ins and outs over the summer, Iraola does such a great job here. This could be another fantastic season for the club.
Newcastle gave it a real go against Barcelona but they just ran out of steam towards the end. They do miss a little bit of cutting edge up top, it’s hard not to think what might have been if they still had Isak in the side.
I’m going for Bournemouth to win 2-1, that Barcelona game is bound to have taken something out of Newcastle.
One to watch – I keep picking Semenyo but he’s one of the form players in the league!

Alan Shearer's prediction

Alan Shearer, Newcastle legend, speaking to Betfair:

Bournemouth have started really well; I've been really impressed. Particularly with the number of players they sold.
They sold an entire back four plus the goalkeeper and they look impressive. Eddie Howe going back down to Bournemouth. I'll go for a draw.

Fans ready

By Lewis Browning

Defeat in midweek but spirits have not been dampened for Newcastle fans.

Their supporters have made the multi-hour trip down for this game - an early start I'm sure - and will be hoping for three more points in the league.

I can't think of many teams I'd less like to play than Bournemouth after a game like that - but that's the cost of playing at the top level I suppose.

Richards: 'It is amazing what the manager has done'

Micah Richards, former England defender, Sky Sports:

It is down to the manager. To lose Zabarnyi, Kerkez and the goalkeeper, mixing up the back four... We talk about relationships and consistency, but to remove them and do so well is down to the manager and his tactics.
It is amazing what he has done. We look at Semenyo in that first game vs Liverpool. The players have to take on the message, but, in terms of what he is doing, it is incredible.

How will Newcastle line up?

So I mentioned earlier that Newcastle have made seven changes today, but it's hard to tell what the action formation will be.

I was thinking potentially a back four with Lewis Hall in midfield, but we have seen Eddie Howe roll out a back three recently - including against Leeds just a few weeks ago.

Craig thinks it's a back five with Burn at centre back. We'll see soon!

Howe: 'It's the comedown'

Eddie Howe, Newcastle manager:

It’s the big high of (the Barcelona game) – a big experience for the players, another big, emotional game – then the big comedown, then you’ve got to go to Bournemouth, which is a really tough away game, even with a week to prepare.
I think that’s the challenge we face and every European team goes through the same experiences. That’s why these campaigns are more difficult in the Premier League for us.
This will be the first test of that this season and hopefully we can rise to it.

Iraola: 'Newcastle deserve more points'

Andoni Iraola, Bournemouth manager:

Newcastle United have been very good. They probably deserve more points than they have. Defensively, they are not conceding a lot, and they have been really solid.
They perhaps have not been scoring in the way they usually score, but they signed a good number nine, which is an important weapon. We know we will have to be very good to win.
We will have to be even better than we have been in the last couple of games. They have strengthened the team and have new threats.

Toon in town

The Newcastle players have arrived at Vitality and will be out to warm up soon.

It's about 14 degrees in Bournemouth, but feels like 11 accoding to my trusty Apple Weather app.10mph winds for those interested.

But no rain, so a nice day for football. Cannot wait for this one - it's hard to know what to predict.

As a note, I don't know what's going on in that bike piture, I just saw it on the system and thought it was cool. Something going on outside the stadium, I guess!

CRAIG HOPE on Newcastle

It's been a mixed start for Newcastle.

Their early season has been dominated by their striker situation, with Alexander Isak eventually leaving for Liverpool and Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa coming in.

In terms of results, it's been one win, two draws and one defeat in the league, and they do find themselves languishing in the bottom half of the table for now.

They did of course lose to Barcelona in the Champions League in midweek too.

But allow me to point you in the direction of the person who knows more about Newcastle than anyone on planet earth. Our man Craig Hope was on Sky Sports' Sunday Supplement today - and here's what he had to say about their season so far...

Bournemouth flying high

What a season it has been for the Cherries so far.

After having their defence dismantled in the summer - losing Kepa Arrizabalaga, Milos Kerkez, Dean Huijsen and Illia Zabarnyi - many feared for them, but they have not let that bother them in the slightest.

What a well-run club they are. They have invested well in the departures' replacements, continued their attacking form and are absolutely looking up rather than down.

They could well finish today second in the table. That is seriously, seriously impressive.

Breaking:Aston Villa team news: Elliott BENCHED

Unai Emery remains cautious in terms of bringing in his newest signings Harvey Elliott and Jadon Sancho from the start. Remember, VIlla are the only team in England not to have scored a goal yet this season - zero from four games.

Nonetheless, Watkins leads the line again with Rogers and Buendia behind. Guessand is in there too, while Kamara's return is welcomed.

Breaking:Sunderland team news: Le Fee STARTS

Here's the Black Cats team for this afternoon and just the two changes for them.

Rigg and Le Fee replace Diarra and Adingra from the draw with Crystal Palace last week, with Regis Le Bris opting for consistency after the new boys' impressive start to the campaign.

Dan Ballard is back on the bench after injury, too.

Breaking:Newcastle team news: Woltemade STARTS

I make this seven changes from the Barcelona game. Wow.

Hall, Botman, Thiaw, Murphy, Woltemade, Willock and Miley come in. Trippier, Schar, Guimaraes, Joelinton, Elanga, Gordon and Barnes out.

I guess Howe had to change it after the midweek effort, but wow - I didn't expect that many changes.

Woltemade, though, is in, and will lead the line.

Breaking:Bournemouth team news: Semenyo STARTS

Milosavljevic impressed on debut last week, but Diakite is back in central defence after missing the win over Brighton to partner Senesi.

Apart from that, no major surprises from Andoni Iraola. Semenyo, Evanilson, Brooks and Scott are all in.

Expecting big things from the Cherries today!

It's Premier League Sunday!

Hello one and all and welcome to Daily Mail Sport's live blog for the early action this afternoon!

There's a day jam-packed with action ahead, with Arsenal vs Manchester City from the Emirates later on the main event. But, before that, we have Bournemouth vs Newcastle and Sunderland vs Aston Villa.

Here, we will be focusing on the game on the south coast as Bournemouth look to keep up their impressive run and Newcastle aiming to bounce back from defeat by Barcelona in midweek, but will have updates from the north east too.

But no time to waste - team news is in...
