TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry/The Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) ensures that investment projects and existing investments in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) will continue.
Deputy for Investment Climate Development of BKPM, Riyatno, revealed this when met at the Four Seasons Hotel, South Jakarta, on Monday, February 10, 2025. "We will continue to coordinate with the IKN authorities," said Riyatno when asked about the fate of investments in IKN.
Riyatno mentioned that the investment will be projected for existing projects, such as irrigation development, the hospitality sector, and education. He mentioned that Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry Rosan Roeslani and the Head of IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, have held several meetings.
He added that the most recent investment to enter IKN will come from Singapore. “We have carried out coordination, and the minister has even visited [Singapore],” he said.
He did not disclose further details about the investment plans from the neighboring country. To reporters, Riyanto mentioned that a detailed explanation will be provided by Minister Rosan Roeslani on another occasion.
Previously, the fate of IKN development became uncertain after the Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, stated that the budget for IKN development was blocked due to budget cuts.
The ministry budget was reduced to Rp29.57 trillion in accordance with the efficiency instructions from President Prabowo. "The budget for infrastructure was all blocked," said Dody after a meeting with House Commission V at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Thursday, February 6.
The Presidential Communication Office Head, Hasan Nasbi, also confirmed that the budget for the construction of Nusantara is still blocked by the Ministry of Finance. But, he insisted that the move was not equal to a lack of budget for IKN development. “The budget remains with the IKN Authority and the Ministry of Public Works,” he said on February 7.
Hasan mentioned that President Prabowo Subianto is committed to continuing the development of IKN for the next five years. The budget has also been prepared. "A commitment of Rp48 trillion for the next 5 years," said Hasan.
