Footy great Brendan Fevola has revealed that he became the victim of a ‘home invasion this weekend’ and had feared that he and his young family were about to be robbed.
The father of four had been preparing to take his youngest daughter, Tobi, rollerskating over the weekend before the bizarre incident took place.
But he revealed as they were leaving the house, he had turned around and been left stunned, seeing an elderly lady and her dog randomly standing in his hallway.
‘Oh my god, I’ve had an intruder,’ the former Carlton and Brisbane star explained to the Fifi, Fev and Nick show.
‘I turn around and see this old lady with a dog walking into our house with a dog and the dog just comes in and I go: “Hello? Are you OK?”.
‘And she’s like: “Yep, yep.”’
Brendan Fevola has revealed that he and his family were the subject of a bizarre home invasion this weekend
The former Carlton and Brisbane player revealed that an elderly woman had randomly entered his house at the weekend with her dog
Initially, Fevola’s mind began to sound alarm bells, with the ex-Carlton and Brisbane star fearing that people were scoping out his house on Halloween Weekend.
‘I was like: “Is this person scoping my house out? Is this what they do? Get old people to come into my house and see what you’ve got and later on you get robbed”.
‘I was like: “Is this a set-up?”’
However, things were a little more innocent, with Fevola stating that the lady was just ‘a little bewildered’.
Fevola currently lives in Melbourne and in August, he and his partner Alex had listed their stylish home on the market for $4.5million.
They have lived there for four years, initially paying $3.1m for the house situated in Hampton, while having also completely renovated the home.
Fevola had also taken a video of the bizarre ordeal, and Fifi had jokingly noted the noise of the dog’s nails tapping against the floor.
‘It’s very obvious she’s in the wrong location, with a dog that arguably needs to get its nails cut,’ Fifi said.
Fevola (pictured with his wife Alex) had revealed that he was left fearful that the elderly lady was 'scoping-out' his flat
The couple paid $3.1m for the Hampton home in 2021 and have spent the past four years extensively renovating it
The exquisite property sits on a 1200sqm block of land and features five bedrooms and three bathrooms, a fully renovated kitchen, parquetry floors, and high ceilings
‘There’s a lot of scratching of floor boards I wouldn’t be rapt,’ she added.
Nick responded joking: ‘I love that’s what you’re worried about, the grooming of the pets, there’s clearly a woman loose in Fev’s house.’
Fevola admitted his youngest daughter Tobi was ‘petrified’ by the bizarre incident adding that she was ‘nearly crying!’
The footy star-turned broadcaster offered the lady a glass of water, still suspicious about the event, before asking the elderly lady whether she was lost.
She replied: ‘No,’ with Fevola adding: ‘I thought: “Oh god, they really are scoping my house out”. I’m like half-half.’
He revealed that the woman had walked all around his house, even going through one of his children’s bedrooms.
Fevola was left even more concerned by the strange incident after the woman finally left his house, but began to count her steps down the front of his driveway.
The footy star again added he was fearful that she was ‘scoping out’ his house.
But the former Carlton star (pictured with his wife Alex) later found out that the woman had been diagnosed with dementia and had mistakenly entered his Melbourne home
‘If the robbers come at dark nighttime, they’ll know how many steps there are... This is in my head,’ he added.
However, after she left, he revealed that a man had been walking down the road at the bottom of his driveway, with Fevola shouting to the man to see if he knew who the woman was.
In a twist to the tale, the man revealed that he did know the lady and began to call her husband who was further down the road.
The lady sadly had been diagnosed with dementia and had been living with the condition for 10 years. Fevola said she had mistakenly entered his house after getting lost on a walk with her husband and the other man.
‘She was just delirious and didn’t know what was going on,’ Fevola said, before adding that she had ‘turned around and started walking back into my house again.’
‘It was funny. I had a home invasion by a lovely little old Irish lady and her Jack Russell.’
