Shocking footage has emerged of LeBron James being jeered and insulted by angry fans in New York City over the weekend.

In a video shared by TMZ, several basketball supporters can be seen swarming the NBA legend while he makes his way to an event in the Big Apple on Saturday night.

One of the tormentors is heard brutally calling him 'LeBum' as he arrives at the venue, which appeared to be on Bond Street, while another shouts at him amid a chorus of boos: 'Get outta here LeBron, go back to LA'.

He was even subjected to taunts about fellow icons Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, with one saying: 'You'll never be Jordan or Kobe, you bum a**'.

The Los Angeles Lakers superstar kept his cool and refused to acknowledge the abuse as he headed into the venue while surrounded by members of his entourage.

LeBron was in New York City at the weekend for Fanatics Fest - a sports and collectables convention held every year at the Javits Center.

A number of familiar sporting faces joined him at the event, including legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady and current NBA star Victor Wembanyama.

While on stage with LeBron, Brady risked the wrath of good friend Michael Jordan when he referred to the Lakers hero as 'the greatest ever.'

'With the intensity that's been on him, the Olympics, the different teams that he's been on, he's always done things the right way,' the seven-time Super Bowl winner said of LeBron.

'He's always risen above all the noise and B.S. and continued to deliver. So you're witnessing the greatest ever and I hope you guys all appreciate that.'

Jordan won six NBA titles in his illustrious career, all with a star-studded Chicago Bulls team that also included Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman.

LeBron has played for three different teams, winning two titles with the Miami Heat, and one each with the Lakers and Cavaliers.
