Fans are calling for Shedeur Sanders to start for the Cleveland Browns after they suffered another miserable defeat on Sunday afternoon.

Sanders watched on from the sidelines as the Browns fell to their fifth loss of the season, this time against the Pittsburgh Steelers who triumphed 23-9 on the day.

It was a difficult afternoon in particular for Browns QB Dillon Gabriel who started just his second game of the season, after the team traded Joe Flacco to the Bengals.

Gabriel completed 29 of his 52 pass attempts, throwing for just 221 yards as the Browns' offensive struggles continued against the Steelers.

After the game, head coach Kevin Stefanski admitted he never considered turning to Sanders on the day. However, it's clear that the Browns fans think differently.

Following the defeat, fans piled onto social media to call for Sanders to get an opportunity as the Browns' starting signal-caller.

Taking to X, one fan wrote: 'Dillon Gabriel what are you doing?? Shedeur Sanders needs to start next week'.

Another said: 'There is no way Shedeur Sanders is worse than Dillon Gabriel'.

'It might be time Shedeur. I think the ceiling is higher than Dillion’s gotta try something else to get things going,' one disgruntled fan said.

Another wrote: 'Again, im supposed to believe Dillion Gabriel and better than Shedeur? [laughing emojis]'.

Sanders was named as the backup quarterback on the day but Stefanski admitted that he never considered turning to the rookie against the Steelers.

Cleveland began the season with five total quarterbacks: Flacco, Gabriel, and Sanders - as well as Kenny Pickett and Deshaun Watson.

But Watson's recovery from a torn Achilles has been complicated - leaving his status for the rest of the season up in the air.

Fans were quick to voice their frustrations on social media and call for Sanders to start

Pickett was cut from the roster before the season began and Flacco was benched after four lackluster starts.

It left Gabriel to take over from Flacco for his first NFL start in London against the Minnesota Vikings, where he threw two touchdowns during their 21-17 defeat.

Meanwhile, for Sanders, the long wait to play follows his extraordinary slide down the NFL Draft standings earlier this year.

To some, the quarterback was considered a top three pick. But after meeting with multiple teams before the draft, he slid down to the fifth round before the Browns finally put him out of his misery.
