TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - China is ready to fight until the end in any war against the United States if Washington seeks any confrontation with Beijing. The Chinese Embassy in the United States revealed this as reported by TASS on Thursday, March 6, 2025.
The embassy's press service wrote on X that the right thing to do is to consult with China by treating each other as equals if the U.S. truly wants to solve the fentanyl problem. Further, China is ready to fight in a trade war, tariff war, or "any other type of war" if war is what the U.S. wants.
Before this, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated that Beijing is ready to confront the U.S. in the upcoming trade war. He suggested that Washington should choose dialogue, as China would stand by its interests to the end.
Lin Jian also urged the U.S. to stop dominating and return to the right path of dialogue and cooperation as before.
In a Chinese State Council government report (white paper), it was stated that Beijing is taking "comprehensive measures and systematic control" over fentanyl-related drugs. The report noted that China has been "stricken hard against the smuggling, manufacturing, and trafficking" fentanyl and related precursor chemicals.
Previously, U.S. President Donald Trump signed a decree raising additional tariffs on imports from China from 10 percent to 20 percent. He claimed this was done because Beijing's alleged inadequate actions to combat fentanyl smuggling to the U.S.
Trump said he believes China will not take drastic steps in response to the tariff increase.
