The daughter of ex-Auburn football coach Hugh Freeze is facing a backlash from fans after posting a 'tone-deaf' TikTok about her struggles in the wake of his firing.

Freeze was let go by the Tigers on Sunday after three miserable seasons on the Plains. He leaves Auburn 4-5 for 2025 his overall record was 15-19.

The 56-year-old is reportedly owed a buyout of $15.8million after leaving midway through his six-year, $49m deal.

Following his departure, Freeze's daughter Madi - a student at Auburn - posted a five-and-half-minute video aimed at detailing the 'reality of what many families are walking through right now.'

'I don't know what's next for the rest of my family and there's the question: God, why did you ever bring us here? Why?' Freeze said.

She took aim at the school, claiming 'we were promised four years', and she accused Auburn of not repaying the love her family showed. Freeze also said she was in 'a daze' and didn't know how she would do her two presentations this week.

Hugh Freeze's daughter has come under fire over comments she made after his Auburn exit

'I feel like the side of football where you are on the mountaintops is really fun to put out there and talk about. But I feel like I'd be doing a disservice by not opening up to the other side of that,' she began.

'People can say what they want about money - go live your life, get paid, whatever, blah blah blah... that's just not how it is. There's not enough money that can make you feel like this is worth it.'

Freeze continued: 'Obviously we came here hoping to restore a program and we were promised four years and that didn't happen.

'There's frustration, there's hurt... I get that people didn't see the results they wanted in three years but we all knew this was going to be much longer than a three-year rebuild.'

She insisted the family 'loved Auburn' and that they were told: 'If you love Auburn, it will love you back.' But, Freeze claimed: 'Unfortunately that wasn't the case for us'

The video drew huge criticism from Auburn supporters, including one who said: 'This is tone-deaf... Auburn deserves to have a great program not the subpar one that he’s delivered.'

Another added: 'I understand there’s a human side to it, but to get $15m to not work anymore is truly ridiculous to cry about, the average American makes $60k a year. It will be ok.'

A third asked whether Freeze was expecting fans 'to feel bad' for her and her family. 'Your dad failed at his job. The product he put on the field was abysmal,' they wrote. 'Enjoy the 15m dollar buyout, y’all will be fine. Plenty of time for him to play golf!'

Freeze insisted her family never took his position for granted. But she admitted: 'I want to hide in a shell and get under the covers and go back to sleep and not deal with this anymore.'

She also claimed there was some 'twisted' relief in her dad's firing after seeing his health 'deteriorate' during his tenure.

'He's not healthy,' she said while a message flashed up on the screen. 'As y'all boo him out of the stadium,' it read.

Hugh Freeze is set to undergo surgery on the prostate cancer he was diagnosed with in February. Back in April, the coach said he would until after the season before going under the knife.
