A University of Alabama at Birmingham football player stabbed two of his teammates at the team's facility on Saturday morning, according to a report.

The incident occurred shortly after 10am local time ahead of the Blazers' home game against South Florida with the suspect arrested, local news outlet WVTM13 reports.

Both injured players were rushed to UAB hospital and are said to be in a stable condition.

'We're grateful to report that two players injured in an incident this morning at the Football Operations Building are in stable condition. Our thoughts are with them and their families as they recover,' a statement from the school read.

'The suspect – another player – remains in custody, and an investigation is taking place. The team elected to play today's game. UAB's top priority remains the safety and well-being of all of our students. Given patient privacy and the ongoing investigation, we have no further comment at this time.'

UAB player Daniel Israel Mincey was reportedly arrested and booked into the Jefferson County Jail on Saturday afternoon on charges of aggravated assault and attempted murder.

It has not yet been confirmed if his arrest is linked to the stabbings at UAB's football facility.

The Blazers' game against USF still went off ahead as scheduled at Protective Stadium at 3pm ET.

UAB Police and Public Safety is handling the ongoing investigation.

The Blazers are coming off a 53-24 defeat to North Texas at home last weekend. They currently sit 12th in the AAC with a 3-7 record.
