Ellie Kildunne told her team-mates there is nothing to fear from Saturday's World Cup final after she put England one game away from global glory.

John Mitchell's side will face Canada at a sold-out Twickenham after overcoming a stuttering first half to beat France 35-17 in their last-four clash.

Kildunne, the No 1 female player on the planet, crossed for a brace with two moments of individual brilliance as England turned up the heat in the final quarter.

Now, only Canada stand between the Red Roses becoming the first senior England rugby side to win a World Cup on home soil.

'There is nothing to be scared of. There is nothing more we can do to be prepared for a World Cup final,' said full-back Kildunne, who is fully fit for the title decider.

'I'm very excited. You don't prepare for a World Cup final in the last week – you prepare over the last three years. Everyone wants to be in that spot and now we are there. Everything we've done has led to this point. We've just got to back ourselves.'

Teams: Canada vs England

Date: Saturday, September 27

Venue: Allianz Stadium, Twickenham

Kick-off: 4pm

TV: BBC1

The French win was England's 32nd straight Test success.

Their last loss was the 2022 World Cup final when they were beaten by New Zealand in Auckland. A repeat fixture was expected this weekend, but Canada shocked the Black Ferns with a performance of the ages to reach this year's final.

Canada had to crowdfund to raise money to support their World Cup dream. They are the No 2 side on the planet and showed against New Zealand how good they are.

But it is hard to see them playing repeating that level of performance in consecutive weeks.

'Canada are a good outfit. No 1 vs No 2 in the world is a good watch for anyone who wants to get into rugby for the first time or if you are a seasoned watcher,' Kildunne said. 'The work is not finished yet.'

A world record crowd for a women's match will watch the England-Canada final.

Kildunne, centre Meg Jones and prop Hannah Botterman were the leading lights against France.

Mitchell's team should have too much for Canada too, so long as they can deal with the weight of expectation on them.

'Pressure is such a privilege,' said England captain Zoe Aldcroft.

'We've learned that over the last three years. We're going to stay calm and cannot wait to get out there for the final.

'Having a sold-out Twickenham is so special for women's rugby. This is just the start.'
