TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) also implemented electricity savings due to budget cuts instructed by President Prabowo Subianto.

From Tempo's monitoring on Monday, February 10, 2025, since 17:00 WIB (Western Indonesian Time), the lighting in the lobby and ground floor of the SOEs Ministry building was dim because only a few core lights were turned on. In fact, until 19:00 WIB, several employees went home by vehicle through the lobby with dim lighting.

The officers on duty repeatedly checked several corners of the room and occasionally asked employees who were about to go home. The officers ensured that no lights were on when the building was left.

When Tempo asked about the unusual lighting, one of the security guards answered with a laugh. "Yes, we're saving," he said, Monday, February 10, 2025.

BUMN Minister Erick Thohir confirmed that his Ministry had implemented electricity savings. In front of reporters, Erick pointed to the lights in the BUMN Ministry lobby which were off at that time. He said the lights were deliberately turned off for efficiency.

"This blackout reduces the efficiency of carbon absorption, so that carbon is more efficient," he said jokingly, "We want to try the glass in front. If possible, replace it with solar panels to reduce the need for that."

Furthermore, Erick said he could not yet reveal the amount of the Ministry of SOEs' budget that was cut. What allocations will be reduced and affected have not been decided.

"It has not been decided. I will not comment on the budget because nothing has been decided. There is nothing in black and white," said Erick.

Even so, Erick Thohir will make maximum efforts and ensure that all SOE projects continue as previously planned. "We will try to find a way, without complaining. Because what is important is for us to push that the policy is implemented, the transformation of SOEs is implemented."

Previously, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani issued a circular letter Number S-37/MK.02/2025 dated January 24, 2025 concerning the Efficiency of K/L Spending in the Implementation of the 2025 State Budget. The letter was a follow-up to Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 1 of 2025 concerning the Efficiency of Spending and Implementation of the 2025 State Budget and Regional Budget. The Inpres was issued by Prabowo on January 22.

In the circular, it was stated that the cuts were made for 16 ministerial expenditures such as stationery, meetings to education and training (diklat) with different percentage cuts.

In detail, office stationery was cut by 90 percent, ceremonial activities by 56.9 percent, meetings, seminars and the like were cut by 45 percent, studies and analysis by 51.5 percent, training and technical guidance by 29 percent, and honorariums for output activities and professional services by 40 percent.

Then, printing and souvenirs were cut by 75.9 percent, building, vehicle, and equipment rentals were cut by 73.3 percent, application licenses by 21.6 percent, consultant services by 45.7 percent, government assistance by 16.7 percent, maintenance and care were cut by 10.2 percent. In addition, the travel budget was also cut by 53.9 percent, equipment and machinery by 28 percent, infrastructure by 34.3 percent, and other expenses by 59.1 percent.
