A former Ohio State football star has been arrested after allegedly dragging a man out of a car and hitting him in the face until he fell unconscious.

Jordan Hall, 34, was a running back for the Buckeyes between 2009 and 2013 and even served as a team captain.

Now, though, he faces a felony assault charge over the alleged attack at a gas station which left the victim in critical condition. The 34-year-old could be seen smiling in a mugshot taken by the Franklin County Jail.

According to reports, police in Columbus, Ohio, responded to calls about an assault around 1.20am on Saturday morning.

Cops found the victim unconscious - with nasty head injuries - before he was rushed to the hospital.

Hall was reportedly identified as the suspect after surveillance footage showed him, the victim and another man arriving at the gas station around 1am. The ex-college star then pulled the victim out of the car before striking him in the face.

The 34-year-old is said to have returned to his vehicle. According to cops, he began to drive off, only to stop, get out and start beating the victim once more.

It is claimed the victim fell backward and hit his head on the ground before lying there motionless.

According to the New York Post, homicide detectives were called due to the seriousness of the victim's injuries. Hall is expected to appear in court on Monday.

After graduating with a degree in finance and financial management services, he went on to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers but was released without playing a game.

According to LinkedIn, Hall now works for a 'management company in the building maintenance industry' and is 'on a mission to grow one of the largest real estate portfolios in the Midwest.'
