TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two Indonesian crew members from a fishing boat went missing on Thursday, June 25, 2026, after the vessel capsized in waters southeast of the port city of Busan, the country's maritime authorities said.
The 79-ton fishing boat capsized after colliding with a 992-ton liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carrier at 10:10 a.m. local time, according to the Ulsan Coast Guard.
The collision threw all eight crew members—two South Koreans and six Indonesians—overboard, according to Antara, citing a report by Yonhap news agency.
The LPG carrier rescued six of the crew members, but the two Indonesians, both in their 30s, remain missing.
The Coast Guard deployed patrol boats, helicopters, and other equipment to search for the two, officials said.
Meanwhile, one of those rescued is reported to be in critical condition.
South Korean President Lee Jae Myung immediately ordered the deployment of all available resources to rescue the missing and address the aftermath of the accident, a presidential official said.
Lee issued the order after receiving a briefing on the accident, presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung said.
