TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Foreign Minister Sugiono mentioned that Indonesia became one of the founding members of the Board of Peace. President Prabowo Subianto signed the charter of the Board of Peace during the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday, January 22, 2026.

"We are a founding member. Yesterday, 20 signatures were made by founding members," said Sugiono in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland, as quoted from a video statement on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube account on Saturday, January 24, 2026.

Indonesia is the only country in Southeast Asia that attended the launch of the international board and signed the charter. Regarding the involvement of other Southeast Asian countries in the Board of Peace, according to the Secretary General of the Gerindra Party, Vietnam also expressed its participation. However, the Vietnamese representative was not present at the signing session.

Sugiono stated that the initiator of the Board of Peace, United States President Donald Trump, sent invitations to approximately 60 countries. "Of the 60, the 20 who attended yesterday as early responders were considered as founding members who participated in the signing," he said.

Previously, President Prabowo attended the launch and signed the charter of the Board of Peace on Thursday, January 22, 2026, in Davos, Switzerland.

During the event, Prabowo claimed that there had been positive developments in the Gaza Strip. He also expressed Indonesia's readiness to actively participate in the forum as part of the country's commitment to humanity and world peace.

"The suffering of the people in Gaza has clearly decreased significantly. Humanitarian aid has been flowing in abundantly, and it has been substantial. I sincerely hope that Indonesia is ready to participate," said Prabowo to the media in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday, January 22, 2026.

Prabowo joined the agenda along with representatives from 19 other countries, including Donald Trump. The heads of state signed the charter of the Board of Peace one by one at the event.

The event began with a special address from Trump. "This is a very exciting day, long in the making," said Trump in a social media broadcast from the White House on Thursday.

Trump stated that the attending heads of state were the first group to join the Board of Peace. "We are truly honored by your presence today, leaders of countries," said the Republican Party politician.
