TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian former president Joko Widodo attended the anniversary celebration of the Faculty of Forestry at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in Yogyakarta on Friday, October 17, 2025.
Tempo observed that Jokowi arrived in the morning, accompanied by Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni, and took part in the event held at the faculty’s auditorium.
During the ceremony, Jokowi extended birthday greetings to President Prabowo Subianto, who turns 74 today.
“I would like to extend my best wishes on the 74th birthday of President Prabowo Subianto. May he be granted strength and good health in carrying out the great responsibility of leading our government and nation. Happy birthday,” Jokowi said.
The former president also expressed hope that Prabowo’s administration would continue to implement its programs as planned.
“I’ve seen the policies and major initiatives he has worked on during the early months of his first year in office, and so far, they have been running smoothly,” Jokowi said.
He acknowledged, however, that there are still areas for improvement. According to him, the programs introduced under Prabowo’s leadership have been well received by the public.
“There are still minor aspects that need to be reviewed and refined, but I believe he has already taken steps in that direction. Whether it’s related to the people’s schools, the provision of nutritious free meals, or the Red and White Cooperative, I think we can see these programs progressing well,” he added.
When asked about his attendance at UGM’s Faculty of Forestry anniversary, Jokowi said he came at the invitation of the university.
“I received the invitation about a month ago. The Dean and lecturers from the Faculty of Forestry personally came to my home to deliver it. Since it was personally conveyed, I greatly appreciated the gesture and decided to attend today,” Jokowi said.
