An infuriated Red Sox fan was overheard ripping into one of his own players during an awkward moment caught on broadcast.

The Red Sox continued their losing streak on Friday night after falling to a 4-1 defeat against fierce rivals; the New York Yankees

The result meant that Red Sox slipped further away from the summit of the AL East division and evidently left some fans extremely frustrated.

During the bottom of the seventh - with the Yankees leading 4-0 at that point - veteran star David Hamilton went up to bat for the hosts.

However, as he did so, Apple TV's broadcast cameras picked up one fan who questioned why Hamilton was even on the roster.

'This guy literally should not even be in the league. How do we have nobody better than this?', the fan could be heard saying.

The fan questioned why David Mitchell was stepping up to the plate

After the clip went viral on social media, some fans were left divided over the claim.

One wrote: 'Is he wrong?', while another said: 'Believe it or not, this is the most tame Red Sox fan when it comes to David Hamilton'.

However, another fan said: 'That dude's out of his mind, Hamilton is not my problem he's got skills needs more playing time and consistent position.'

The Red Sox will be hoping to have better fortunes when they take on the Yankees again on Saturday afternoon.

In other Red Sox news, former Boston pitcher Austin Maddox pleaded guilty to charges related to an underage sex sting on Thursday.

Maddox, 34, was accused of soliciting sex from people he believed to be minors after being arrested in a mass sting operation in late April 2024.

The former MLB player was sentenced to three years in prison with 501 days already served, followed by five years of sex offender probation and multiple other conditions by a Florida judge on Thursday after agreeing to a plea deal.

He pleaded guilty to charges of traveling to meet a minor to do unlawful acts and unlawful use of a two-way communications device, according to jacksonville.com. As part of the deal, prosecutors dropped a charge of soliciting a child via computer.

A previous charge of producing/promoting performance which includes sexual performance by a child younger than 18 had already been dropped in May 2024.

Maddox was one of 27 people who were arrested as part of a multi-agency operation orchestrated by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office to target men who were sexually preying on minors.

Shocking footage released by the Sheriff's Office following arrest showed the moment the former baseball player was ambushed by cops, who were waiting to arrest him.

In the video, the former baseball player is seen resisting arrest until the police K9 got involved.
