Plenty of New York Giants fans have had it with starting quarterback Russell Wilson, demanding he be benched after his fourth-quarter 'meltdown' against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The sequence New York's fan base collectively is pointing to as the breaking point for Wilson as the team's signal caller took place starting at 1st and goal from the Chiefs' 4-yard-line.
With the Giants down by the eventual final score of 22-9, Giants fans knew the team needed a touchdown to have a shot at a comeback.
Wilson threw the ball out of the end zone three times, including on first down when it was called for intentional grounding. Another was a short gain on a designed quarterback run.
With Wilson's complete ineffectiveness in the red zone, Giants fans want someone to save the season, with plenty pointing to rookie Jaxson Dart.
Wilson's effort has also been blasted on social media, with Giants fans still waiting for a stable, trusted starter in a post-Eli Manning franchise.
Giants fans want Russell Wilson to be benched after his performance against the Chiefs
Wilson had a lackluster performance, including a fourth-quarter red zone disaster on Sunday
'Malik Nabers if he goes one more week with Russell Wilson as his Quarterback,' one person on X posted with the image of Antonio Brown quitting on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the middle of a game from 2022.
'Russell Wilson has about a 0% chance of starting next week,' a second Giants fan said.
'When the Giants bench Russell Wilson they will be able to play like a real NFL team,' a third added.
'Digested last night’s loss a little more. It’s abundantly clear. Russ has flashes but he’s not going to do anything worth continuing to start. The move has to be made now. I’m nervous putting in a rookie with such a bad team around him but Dart has to be starter moving forward,' a fourth continued.
Bench Russell Wilson @Giants what worse can happen? Wilson throw s*** all every time he has pressure,' a fifth concluded.
A collection of social media messages about Giants fans wanting Russell Wilson benched
Among the massive changes typically made by teams looking to kickstart their season is a change at quarterback, or firing the head coach.
Giants boss Brian Daboll must know he has one of the hottest seats in the NFL and may bench Wilson to preserve his time in the Big Apple.
The calls for a new signal caller have only intensified since Daboll was part of the decision to trade back into the first round of this year's NFL Draft to select Dart.
Wilson, who turns 37 in November, has had one great start for the team thus far, in Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys.
His other two starts under center, against playoff contenders in the Chiefs and Washington Commanders, have left Giants fans wanting to see much less of Wilson.
New York plays another AFC West team, the Los Angeles Chargers, in Week 4 on Sunday. Daboll will have a few chances to speak with the press before that game.
