Bra Boy turned pro surfer Koby Abberton has confirmed his ex-wife has abandoned their life in Bali and moved to Australia with their son.

Ukrainian model and jewellery designer Olya Nechyporenko posted to Instagram recently, asking her 14,000 followers if they had any leads on a home for herself and her son, 10-year-old Makua, in the Byron Bay region.

'Ku and I are on the hunt for a cosy two-bedroom home in Byron/Suffolk (Park),' she posted, adding that her budget was around $700 per week and they wanted to move in ASAP.

Abberton - a member of Maroubra surf gang the Bra Boys - and Nechyporenko met in 2011 in Bali, where he moved from Australia after becoming disenchanted with the government.

They became engaged in March 2015, when Nechyporenko was six months pregnant with Makua.

Daily Mail exclusively revealed in June that the marriage had fallen apart in 2023.

When approached for comment about his ex-wife and son moving to Australia, Abberton, 46, reacted strongly.

'I miss my son. They live in Aus... I'm devastated, but yet I still rise,' he said on an Instagram story, adding that this reporter was a 'blood-sucking nothing' who should 'get a real job'.

'The internet sticks around. My boy will read that. Imagine him making judgement of me at 16 years old, due to a dummy writing a story.'

Abberton shot to notoriety in 2006 for being found guilty of perverting the course of justice, relating to an incident in which his brother Jai was charged but found not guilty of the 2003 murder of standover man Tony Hines.

In 2008, Abberton was found guilty of assaulting an off-duty police officer in a fight outside a nightclub in Hawaii, and jailed for three days.

'Please understand what I come from,' he said on Thursday in response to Daily Mail's request for comment.

'Understand the trauma I'm trying to take from my boy's (sic) heart and brain. It's generational pain... I went to hell and back most days of my life. It started at birth.'

Abberton appears to be currently in Australia, staying in a friend's studio near Byron Bay. He has shared pictures to social media of himself with Makua.

Nechyporenko, meanwhile, confirmed to Daily Mail that she moved to Australia with Makua some time ago, and is now focused on settling him into his local school, and growing her jewellery brand Olamii.

'I've been in Australia with my son for (one and a half years) now while he attends school here. We're settling into the community and looking for a long-term rental so that he has consistency and stability,' she said.

'My focus right now is on building a positive future for us, both personally and professionally. I'm in the process of expanding Olamii, which has grown internationally over the past few years, and being based here makes that expansion much easier.

'I won't be commenting on my son's father or his living situation. My priority is protecting my child's privacy and keeping adult matters between adults.'

Nechyporenko appears to have last featured on Koby's Instagram in a post made on Christmas Day 2023.

At one stage, the talented boardrider dreamed of having a large family with his then-wife, who is also a psychologist, accountant and business owner.

'I would love four kids,' Abberton told Daily Mail in 2021, when he was appearing on the Channel Seven show SAS Australia.

'I want to replicate my brothers' lives... but I don't know if my wife's got those plans.'

When they were still together, Abberton also hailed his ex's efforts to help make their life in Bali work through the shock of the Covid pandemic.

'We realised as a family we would have to stay in Bali,' he wrote on social media.

'We knew we needed an online business to survive. It was stressful times to have a young family in a third world country.

'My beautiful woman Olya decided she would chase her lifelong dream and start a jewellery label @olamii.co.

'I have spent the last 18 months watching in awe at her work ethic... I love you so much and I'm proud of your success.

'You deserve the world and everything in it.'

In June, Daily Mail revealed Koby's startling response when he was informed that his son was rescued from a rip during a surfing lesson with his school in Bali.

Abberton posted his online conversation with a representative from the school, in which he responded to the news with, 'Good. Tell Makua to never ever get rescued again by anyone.

'Next time have makua paddle alone and don't be lazy.'

Abberton later told Daily Mail that his son 'was not hurt' in the incident and explained that he has been coaching Makua in how to stay safe in the water since he was a baby.

'The reason why I replied like that to the teacher is because I know my child and I know he was not hurt in any way,' he said.

'Otherwise, he would have ran the two minutes to our house for help. We look at the surf before every lesson he has.

'I'm more worried about the indoctrination of our kids in the Australian school system. Learning the same thing over and over again without any real knowledge being taught.'

Abberton added that Makua has been surfing since he was nine months old, knows CPR, and has potential dangers in the surf conditions pointed out to him before he goes into the water.
