A distraught Lewis Hamilton delivered a bleak update on his health of his beloved dog Roscoe, who he admitted may not wake from an induced coma.
The English Bulldog, who routinely accompanies the seven-time world champion on the Formula One circuit, was taken into hospital after contracting pneumonia and struggling to breathe.
However, the canine's condition worsened, leading to Hamilton this week calling on his followers to 'keep Roscoe in your thoughts'. The 40-year-old, who has struggled for consistency this season, has again provided fans with an update on Roscoe's health and admitting 'we don’t know whether he will wake' after his heart stopped.
'Please keep Roscoe in your thoughts,' he wrote on Instagram on Friday. 'I want to keep you all updated. Roscoe caught pneumonia again and was struggling to breathe.
'He was admitted into hospital and sedated to calm him while they did checks on him and during the process his heart stopped.
'They managed to get a heartbeat back and now he’s in a coma. We don’t know whether he will wake from this. Tomorrow we’ll try to wake him up. I’m by his side and want to thank you all for your prayers and support.'

Back in April it was revealed that the mutt had been struck down with pneumonia , with Roscoe's trainer Kirstin McMillian writing: 'Roscoe, because I know you are going to ask, he is going to his vet today. This is a vet that practices veterinary medicine where she combines Eastern and Western, that's an integrative pet practice.
'So she's a real vet, she went to Davis and everything, but she went for a few years of additional training in holistic methods, Chinese medicine, acupuncture and things like that. What she is going to do with him today is a high-dose Vitamin C IV drop and this is supportive care.
'This is in addition to the strong antibiotics that he is correctly on for his pneumonia.'
Roscoe's ill-health comes amid a difficult season for Hamilton since making the switch to Ferrari from Mercedes.
The Englishman currently sits sixth in the Drivers' Championship and without a win for the Prancing Horse after finishing eighth in Azerbaijan.
He's often cut a frustrated figure in recent months, and that was no different after practice in Baku.
Having qualified in just 12th, the 40-year-old admitted he was 'so disappointed' with his performance.
