TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State Secretariat Minister Prasetyo Hadi confirmed a meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and several top officials at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Saturday night, July 11, 2026. The officials meeting with the head of state included Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto.
Earlier that day, the National Police's Corruption Eradication Division named the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, a suspect in three corruption cases. The cases involve alleged graft at state insurance provider for military PT Asabri and state steelmaker PT Krakatau Steel, as well as in a coal supply scheme that triggered power outages across Sumatra.
According to Prasetyo, the closed-door meeting at the palace addressed the situation. "Because there was an incident, of course, he wanted to get a report," he said after a meeting with Commission XIII of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
The Gerindra Party politician stated that Prabowo wanted the Febrie case resolved without the kind of public uproar that has accompanied other high-profile cases. This is because public unrest could disrupt political stability, which would ultimately impact the national economy.
"One of the requirements to build the economy that we conveyed earlier is stability. Now, the requirement for stability, of course, we hope to reduce and minimize commotions," he said.
Prabowo had previously summoned his subordinates one by one to Wisma Danantara on Thursday afternoon, July 9, 2026, a day after police raided several locations affiliated with Febrie. Those meeting with the Gerindra Party chairperson included Police Chief General Listyo Sigit, Attorney General ST Burhanuddin, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, and Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.
A source familiar with the meeting said Prabowo instructed his aides to avoid creating further public friction. The police raids had already sparked widespread uproar both in public and on social media. Furthermore, during a raid at Febrie's residence in Sentul, Bogor, police reportedly uncovered 74 kilograms of gold and cash worth Rp476 billion.
The meeting was reportedly tense. A minister and law enforcement leaders reportedly opposed naming Febrie a suspect. The full report on the role of elites surrounding Prabowo in the police-prosecutor standoff can be found in the July 12, 2026 edition of Tempo Magazine.
