TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology is becoming more widespread, with advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs) for text as well as for complex tasks such as images and videos. With a plethora of chatbot options for users, many developers of this technology are innovating, including Gemini AI.
Google's chatbot now opens the opportunity for its AI model users to switch to Gemini without losing data. This feature allows ChatGPT users to easily switch to Gemini without worrying about losing previous conversations because of the different platforms.
"You’ll be able to transfer user information from the other chatbot to Gemini by using a prompt and following a few extra steps," Android Authority's report stated on Monday, March 23, 2026. This policy demonstrates Gemini's commitment to reaching a large user base amid the proliferation of similar imitation intelligence applications.
The decision to switch from one chatbot engine to another is not easy. Many users are reluctant to switch because they would have to start over if they wanted to switch applications. Chatbots require a greater amount of user interaction to translate instructions smoothly.
For example, users who interact with a chatbot for the first time, such as Gemini or ChatGPT, are likely to receive responses that do not meet their expectations. Users need to send prompts because the chatbot has not stored their interaction data. However, it's different when it has been used frequently, as there is already a lot of stored data.
How to Transfer Data from Other Chatbots to Gemini
When choosing the 'Import memory to Gemini' option, users will be asked to copy the command and paste it into the input box of another provider. Then, the other provider will respond to the user with whatever information they have about them.
Users can then copy the response and paste it into the 'Paste response here' box on the 'Import memory to Gemini' page. Pressing the 'Add memory' button will inform Gemini to remember unique things about the user.
This method was also tested on the Google app (version 17.11.54.sa.arm64), revealing that the migration process has two parts. Starting from memory import and chat import. With the memory import option, users can transfer user information from another platform to Gemini.
