Exeter revealed mixed injury news on their two England stars on Tuesday with Immanuel Feyi-Waboso 'touch and go' to start the new Prem Rugby season.

But centre Henry Slade should be fit to begin the 2025-26 campaign after he left the summer tour of Argentina and USA early due to a broken hand.

Feyi-Waboso is currently on the sidelines with a hamstring injury suffered in Chiefs training.

It continues an unfortunate run of luck for the flying wing.

He suffered a shoulder problem last December which ultimately forced him to miss the Six Nations and put him out of contention to tour Australia with the Lions.

Feyi-Waboso returned to action in June, but was sent off in a non-capped clash with a France XV. A subsequent two-game ban meant he missed both of England's July wins over Argentina before he did play 80 minutes in the thrashing of USA.

Exeter director of rugby Rob Baxter is hopeful of an improved season in 2025-26

The 22-year-old was a part of an England training camp this week - as was Slade - but remains a doubt to face Northampton in Exeter's first league game on September 28.

'Henry is now clear to play,' said Exeter director of rugby Rob Baxter.

'He's away with England in the early part of this week in a training camp, but he is fit to play. Manny's kind of touch and go.

'He had a little bit of a minor hamstring issue right at the end of last week. He's gone into England camp and they're carrying on with his rehab and assessing him.

'He's touch and go for this weekend.'

After a horror 2024-25 - in which they won just four league games - Exeter's hopes of a fast start to this season won't be helped by Feyi-Waboso's latest problem.

As a centrally contracted England player, Feyi-Waboso's fitness is managed by the RFU in partnership with Exeter.

It led to friction between the two parties earlier this year over how his shoulder injury was handled, with the player eventually undergoing surgery.

Feyi-Waboso has played just 113 minutes of rugby in the calendar year of 2025.
