TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Directorate General of Taxation (DJP) of the Ministry of Finance has expanded its list of Value Added Tax (VAT) collectors for digital goods and services (PPN PMSE). Seven companies have been newly appointed to collect these digital taxes, including the U.S.-based fitness tracking platform Strava, Inc.
The new appointments were designated throughout May 2026. The seven entities tapped as PPN PMSE collectors during this period are Strava, Inc., Envato Pty Ltd, Envato Elements Pty Ltd, The Nielsen Norman Group, Inc., Kling AI Pte. Ltd., Law School Admission Council, Inc., and PLAUD LLC.
"These entities operate across various digital economic sectors, including fitness services, digital content, education, and artificial intelligence (AI), reflecting the expanding scope of PPN PMSE collection as digital business models evolve," Inge Diana Rismawanti, the DJP's Director of Taxation Counseling, Services, and Public Relations, said in an official statement on Friday, June 26, 2026.
With these additions, a total of 271 entities have been designated as PPN PMSE collectors as of the end of May 2026. In line with the growing roster of collectors, 233 digital businesses have successfully collected and deposited PPN PMSE totaling Rp40.55 trillion as of May 31, 2026.
In total, overall tax revenue generated from the digital business sector up to May 30, 2026, has reached Rp52.85 trillion. This digital tax windfall is comprised of PPN PMSE receipts, crypto taxes, peer-to-peer lending fintech taxes, and taxes levied on goods and services procurement via the government's procurement information system (SIPP tax).
In addition to PPN PMSE, revenues have also been bolstered by crypto taxes, which accumulated to Rp2.06 trillion as of May 2026. Over the same period, fintech taxes contributed a collection of Rp4.98 trillion. Meanwhile, revenue collected from the SIPP tax has reached an aggregate of Rp5.26 trillion.
Inge noted that bringing AI service providers and various other digital platforms into the PPN PMSE fold reflects the increasingly diverse range of digital services used by the Indonesian public. "The DJP will continue to monitor technological advancements and digital business models to ensure the effective, fair, and legally certain implementation of tax obligations for all business entities," she said.
