TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Chairperson of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), Erick Thohir, announced that the House of Representatives (DPR) Commissions XIII and X have approved the naturalization process for two male footballers, Mauro Zijlstra and Miliano Jonathans, to strengthen Indonesia’s men’s national team.
The approval was granted on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
Alongside them, three female players, Isabel Corian Kopp, Isabelle Nottet, and Pauline Jeanette van de Pol, also received approval for Indonesian citizenship.
Once the legal and administrative procedures are completed, all five athletes will be eligible to represent the Indonesian men’s and women’s national teams in upcoming regional and international competitions.
Erick said the addition of these players reflects PSSI’s commitment to boosting Indonesia’s football achievements on the global stage.
“We at PSSI continue to uphold our commitment by working hard to realize our big dream: Garuda going global,” Erick said in a post on his Instagram account @erickthohir.
He also thanked President Prabowo Subianto for his commitment to advancing Indonesian football, as well as the support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, and DPR leaders and members who backed the move.
