TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Budi Luhur University, Jakarta, has dismissed a lecturer identified as Y, 48, who is suspected of committing sexual harassment against a student. The dismissal is stated in a decision letter issued by the Budi Luhur Cakti Foundation, Number K/YBLC/KET/000/102/04/2026, concerning termination of employment.
“In responding to and addressing developments in the case, Budi Luhur University and the Budi Luhur Cakti Foundation have taken decisive steps against the accused,” said Rector Agus Setyo Budi in a written statement quoted on Friday, April 17, 2026.
Agus said the university will continue to support the victim and strongly condemns sexual harassment. “We are committed to standing by the victim and have followed up on the reports provided,” he said.
Before the dismissal, Y had been suspended by the university since February 27, 2026. The campus also revoked his position as Head of the Budi Luhur Development Center on February 24, 2026, and later removed him from his role as Director of Promotion and New Student Admissions in April 2026.
Separately, the victim has reported Y to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya). The report, registered under number LP/B/2592/IV/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA dated April 14, 2026, concerns alleged sexual violence that reportedly occurred within the campus environment.
The victim’s legal representative, Pahala Manurung, said the alleged incident took place in March 2022, when the victim was still a student. He added that the victim experienced both verbal and non-verbal harassment from the lecturer at the time.
“We hope this report will be handled firmly by the police to prevent further victims,” Pahala said.
