TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Djiwandono claimed that Indonesia’s fiscal condition remains solid amid the ongoing trade war between the United States and China. As of the end of March 2025, state revenue had reached Rp516.1 trillion, or 17 percent of the annual target.
“This performance reflects careful financial planning and responsive budget execution in the face of economic dynamics. The government has swiftly adapted to global challenges,” said Thomas in an official statement on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
Meanwhile, Thomas reported that government spending had reached Rp620 trillion, or 17.1 percent of the 2025 State Budget (APBN) ceiling. This figure is nearly double the previous month’s spending of Rp348.1 trillion.
At the same time, the budget deficit stood at 0.43 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which reflects prudent fiscal management. President Prabowo Subianto's nephew stated that the 2025 State Budget would focus on increasing state revenue and improving spending efficiency.
The state budget also focuses on financing several priority programs. “In the short term, fiscal policy will be directed toward maintaining the momentum of key government programs such as the free nutritious meals program and the Merah Putih village cooperatives,” he said.
Previously, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati announced that the state budget had recorded a deficit of Rp104.2 trillion as of the end of March. This was revealed during her presentation at the Economic Forum held on April 8.
As is known, the 2025 State Budget is projected to have a deficit of Rp616.2 trillion, with state revenue targeted at Rp3,005.1 trillion and government spending at Rp3,621.3 trillion.
