TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's LRT Jabodebek train (Light Rail Transit train) experienced an electrical disruption while serving passengers on Saturday, October 25, 2025. In a widely circulated video on social media, several passengers were seen walking beside the elevated tracks because the train they were on had stalled in the middle of the journey.
Manager Public Relations of LRT Jabodebek, Mahendro Trang Bawono, explained that the disruption was caused by a problem with the third rail system, which serves as the electrical supply for the train.
"This caused the entire journey of LRT Jabodebek to be inoperable," Mahendro said in a written statement on Saturday, October 26, 2025.
As a result of the disruption, five sets of LRT trains were forced to stop on the tracks. Mahendro apologized for the inconvenience experienced by passengers due to the operational disruption that occurred across all service lines starting from 08:41 AM WIB (Western Indonesian Time).
As a handling measure, the PT KAI team evacuated all users on the stalled trains. Evacuation was carried out via walkways to the nearest stations, namely Kuningan, Halim, Cawang, Kampung Rambutan, and Bekasi Barat stations.
"At 10:06 AM WIB, all users who were on the stalled LRT Jabodebek trains on the tracks have been evacuated," said Mahendro.
A total of 653 passengers were safely evacuated without any reports of injuries.
Mahendro added that the disruption handling process has been completed and LRT Jabodebek services have now returned to normal operations across all service lines.
