TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The certainty of Indonesia's women's national team advancing to the semifinals of SEA Games 2025 was obtained after the last match of Group A between Thailand and Singapore ended with a score of 2-0 in favor of the home team at Chonburi Stadium on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. With this result, Garuda Pertiwi finished as the runner-up.
Two goals by Thailand against Singapore were scored in the first half. They took the lead through Kanyanat Chettaburt's goal in the ninth minute, before Orapin Wainngoen scored in the 18th minute.
As a result, Thailand became the Group A champion with six points, following their 8-0 victory over Indonesia in the first match last Thursday. Meanwhile, Singapore ranked third or bottom of the group with two losses, after being defeated by Indonesia 3-1 on Sunday.
Indonesia, which gathered three points from the victory against Singapore, became the runner-up of Group A. The team coached by Akira Higashiyama will accompany Thailand to the semifinals.
Initially, Group A was composed of four teams, but Cambodia withdrew for security reasons, leaving the group with only three teams. Indonesia, having played two matches earlier, had to wait for the result of the Thailand vs Singapore match on Wednesday to confirm their final position in the group.
Meanwhile, the matches in Group B are not yet concluded. The last two matches of this group, namely the Philippines against Malaysia and Vietnam against Myanmar, are scheduled to take place simultaneously on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 16:00 WIB (Western Indonesian Times). Each will be held at IPE Chonburi Stadium and Chonburi Stadium.
In the current standings of Group B, Myanmar leads with six points. Below them, Vietnam and the Philippines both have three points. The last position is occupied by Malaysia, who has no points and is confirmed to be eliminated.
Indonesia, which played its last match on Sunday, December 7, has the longest time to prepare for the semifinal match. Of course, this is an advantage for Iris de Rouw and her teammates.
The schedule for the semifinal matches is on Sunday, December 14, 2025. Indonesia, already confirmed to advance as the runner-up of Group A, will face the champion of Group B. Meanwhile, Thailand will play against the runner-up of Group B. The medal matches are scheduled to take place on Wednesday, December 17.
