TEMPO.CO, Bandung - Lia Yuldinawati, Lecturer at Telkom University Bandung, has been listed as one of the 50 awardees of the Asia Women Tech Leaders Awards (AWTLA) 2025. The award is to appreciate the significant contributions of Asian women in technology. This year's inaugural Asia Women Tech Leaders Awards announcement was made from the Cassia Junior Ballroom, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, on April 29.
Lia, the Director of Strategic Cooperation and International Affairs Office at Telkom University, teaches at the Faculty of Business and Economics. Her research area focuses on entrepreneurship and marketing management. She is committed to reducing digital disparities in Indonesia due to unequal internet access. She believes that if left unaddressed, these disparities could potentially hinder the nation's progress.
"These disparities do not just hinder digital transformation, but also limit economic and social progress for many Indonesians," said Lia in a written statement on Friday, May 2, 2025. "That motivates me to become a driver of digital literacy, especially for female entrepreneurs or 'womenpreneurs' who play a crucial role in driving innovation and economic growth."
Over the past decade, Lia has dedicated herself to empowering women in technology and supporting Indonesian women in overcoming digital gender gaps. Women with lower internet access than men have been Lia's primary focus in reducing the digital disparities.
The Asia Women Tech Leaders Awards emphasize the importance of gender diversity as a crucial element in developing human resources in the rapidly evolving technology sector. Nearly 150 candidates from Asian countries were considered, and 50 women from Malaysia, India, Mongolia, Japan, Australia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Pakistan were selected.
The awardees are technology, leadership, and research experts from various Asia companies and universities. The announcement of the awards coincided with International Women's Day 2025 to highlight the women driving innovation in Asia.
A panel of industry technology professionals independently evaluated the awardees. The jury's selection was conducted diligently to ensure the right balance of specialist knowledge, experience, race, gender, and geography. The jury panel was led by Natasha Kwan, a Coach and Healthcare Advocate partnering with ITDWorld, followed by Vivien Khoo, Founder of Web3women, Hong Kong SAR, and Sheenam Ohri, Managing Director of Boadridge, India.
