TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) traffic corps is boosting traffic security ahead of the long Lunar New Year holiday later this month.
The director of security and safety of the traffic corps, Brigadier General Bakharuddin Muhammad Syah, asked his staff to pay close attention to the various aspects of traffic security, including traffic control, to the officers' health conditions.
“The Chinese New Year will be long, be ready to secure the traffic flow over a long weekend,” Bakharuddin said when leading the morning roll call at the NTMC Polri field, quoted on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
Bakharuddin warned the officers about the importance of primed physical and mental conditions while on duty during the lunar new year holiday season.
He reminded the officers to maintain diet and sleeping patterns, as well as ensuring their operational vehicles are in top condition.
The traffic corps chief also understood the implementation of the National Safety General Plan (RUNK) during the roll call, which places the police as the Fourth Pillar of safe driving culture.
He highlighted the importance of escort and patrol training to help officers understand proper driving etiquette and techniques.
Bakharuddin also asked road users to increase vigilance during the Lunar New Year holiday by obeying traffic signs and maintaining health while driving.
