TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, has confirmed that regulations regarding incentives for electric motorcycles will soon be issued. Agus stated that the incentive scheme for the purchase of electric motorcycles in 2025 is in the final stages of preparation.

"It (incentive scheme) will be issued in the near future," said Agus in his official statement after opening the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2025 in Jakarta on Thursday, February 13, 2025.

As reported by Antara, Agus stated that the government is still calculating the subsidy amount for the purchase of electric motorcycles this year. In 2024, the government provided a Rp 7 million price reduction subsidy for each motorcycle purchase per identity card (KTP).

However, Agus could not confirm whether the Rp7 million subsidy will be applied again this year.

"It's still being processed, still being calculated, but there will be [subsidies]. The electric motorcycle incentive will be announced soon," he reiterated.

Previously, Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment, and Electronics Industry at the Industry Ministry, Setia Diarta, proposed a new subsidy scheme for the purchase of electric motorcycles in 2025.

"Perhaps the scheme will be different this year. It won't be subsidies, but incentives," Setia said on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. He added that the new scheme he proposed involves a government-borne value-added tax incentive (PPN DTP).
