TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Around 30 people lined up early on Friday morning, October 17, 2025, to become the first buyers of the iPhone 17 Series at Digimap, a Premium Partner and Authorized Reseller of Apple products in Indonesia, located at Grand Indonesia Mall, Jakarta.
When Tempo visited the location at around 9:50 a.m., a line of eager customers had already formed outside the mall even before its doors opened. One of them, Syahrul, 25, said he had been waiting since 8:00 a.m.
“I wanted to upgrade my phone—it’s really outdated. This time, I’m getting the iPhone 17 Pro,” he said.
Several other buyers were also seen taking time off work to collect their pre-ordered devices. Even two hours after the store opened, the queue for pre-order pickups remained long.
Following the launch, Digimap’s General Manager of Marketing at PT MAP Zona Adi Perkasa, Farah Fausa Winarsih, said the public’s enthusiasm for the iPhone 17 Series was exceptionally high. Pre-orders for the new model opened on October 10.
“This year’s response has been extraordinary. In fact, the launch timeline is one of the fastest we’ve ever had,” Farah said.
She added that this year’s atmosphere was quite different from the iPhone 16 launch, which had faced delays in Indonesia due to local content (TKDN) requirements.
Farah noted that orders for the iPhone 17 Series have exceeded those for its predecessor. “The timing this year is perfect—everything was on schedule,” she said.

Among the new color options, the cosmic orange variant has proven to be the most popular, although other shades also sold out quickly.
While Farah did not disclose specific sales figures, she estimated that demand for the iPhone 17 Series had increased by around 50 percent compared to the iPhone 16.
In addition to the iPhone 17 lineup, the newly introduced iPhone Air has also attracted strong interest from buyers.
Apple’s thinnest model to date, the iPhone Air measures just 5.6 millimeters thick—roughly 0.08 inches thinner than its predecessor. It features a 6.6-inch display with a 120 Hz ProMotion refresh rate and supports only eSIM connectivity.
