TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Iran capital Tehran and several provinces in the country's north have experienced power outages from US and Israeli strikes, according to the Iranian Ministry of Energy on Sunday.

"A few minutes ago, as a result of an attack by the US and Israel on power plants in Tehran Province, as well as in some districts of Tehran and Alborz Province, power was cut off. Specialists from the Energy are working to resolve this issue," the ministry stated as quoted by Nour News as reported by ANTARA.

It was reported that projectile fragments hit a high-voltage power tower in Alborz, causing the outage. "The bullet fragments hit one of the power poles at the entrance to the city of Karaj," said Iran's deputy energy minister Mostafa Mashhadi.

The attack also damaged the substation in the Dowshan Tappeh area, resulting in power cuts in several districts in Tehran and Karaj.

Israel reported more than 140 airstrikes in central and western Iran in the past 24 hours, targeting missile launch sites, storage facilities, and military positions. The airstrikes also hit the Popular Mobilization Forces locations in Mosul and Tuz Khurmatu in Iraq.

A university in Isfahan stated that it has been the target of US-Israel attacks for the second time this weekend.

These attacks occurred as US troops continued preparations for the possibility of a ground operation in Iran. The Pentagon has reportedly been considering securing strategic locations, including the Kharg Island oil center and military facilities.

According to CNN, US Central Command chief Admiral Brad Cooper met with Israeli Military Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir and other senior Israeli generals to discuss the conflict and efforts to stop Iran's weapons production.

Attacks on Israel and Gulf Countries

Israel stated on Sunday that an industrial plant near Beer Sheva in the Negev desert was hit by missiles or debris, triggering hazardous materials warnings. Bahrain and the UAE also reported Iranian attacks on their aluminum plant.

Footage verified by BBC as quoted by The Express Tribune showed smoke billowing from the Neot Hovav industrial complex in southern Israel. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for the attack. Images circulating in various media showed flames and thick black smoke rising from the location, which houses more than 30 factories.

The Israel Fire and Rescue Services stated that personnel were working to "prevent an explosion or additional leaks" and warned the public not to approach the area due to the "presence of hazardous materials."

Residents around the location were advised to "lock themselves in their homes, close windows and vents." The department added that the incident was limited "within the boundaries of the industrial zone" and did not pose a threat to anyone more than 800 meters away.

The Gulf region also experienced increased attacks. The Kuwait Ministry of Defense reported detecting 14 ballistic missiles and 12 drones in its airspace, injuring 10 military personnel at a military camp.

Qatar intercepted several Iranian drones, preventing casualties. The UAE Defense Ministry stated that its system intercepted 16 ballistic missiles and 42 drones. Emirates Global Aluminium confirmed significant damage at a site in Abu Dhabi and six employees injured. Aluminium Bahrain reported minor injuries to two staff members.

On February 28, the United States and Israel launched attacks on targets in Iran, including in Tehran, causing damage and fatalities among civilians.

Iran then retaliated by attacking Israeli territories and US military facilities in the Middle East.
