A 'devasted' Wales captain Jac Morgan will miss the rest of his team's autumn campaign and is a doubt for the start of the Six Nations after suffering a dislocated shoulder.

In new head coach Steve Tandy's first game in charge, Wales shipped seven tries to a strong Argentina side despite showing some signs of promise.

But the fitness blow suffered by Morgan was salt in the wound for Wales given he was by some distance his team's best player in a 52-28 defeat. It was a record Argentina win over Wales.

'He's not looking good for the rest of the autumn,' Tandy said of Morgan.

'He's devastated. Ultimately, it's just about Jac recovering. With that, it gives someone else an opportunity. It's always a blow to lose any player. It's not only just the player, but the man.

'Jac was outstanding. The try he scored was unbelievable. There will be tough moments in this journey.'

The Wales captain was clutching his shoulder immediately after scoring against Argentina

Morgan was Wales' only Test Lion in Australia in the summer and he continued his impressive form from that tour against the Pumas. The flanker suffered his shoulder issue while scoring a try having produced a series of brilliant moments both in attack and defence. It meant Tandy's debut as an international boss was soured further.

With Japan to come on Saturday and then daunting meetings with New Zealand and South Africa, Wales will undoubtedly be weakened without Morgan.

Tandy admitted he will have to call up a new player to replace his skipper with Leicester's Tommy Reffell the most likely candidate. Dewi Lake will succeed Morgan as leader.

'He's an outstanding player. I'm not surprised by the way he played,' Argentina captain Julian Montoya said of Morgan. 'He's very, very good week in, week out. I wish him a good recovery.'

Wales scored four tries and attacked well. Tandy's coaching has clearly had an impact.

But his team were also too passive defensively and were hit with two yellow cards.

The sinbinning of Ben Thomas for attempting to kick Pablo Matera was crucial as it allowed Argentina to score two crucial tries just before the break. Wales were never going to recover from 31-14 down.

Argentina have beaten both the Lions and New Zealand this year and don't need any extra help.

But that is exactly what Wales gave them at times. The Pumas dominated physically and in the air.

Wales No 8 Aaron Wainwright also limped from the field late on.
