Jayden Daniels' gruesome elbow injury may not be as serious as the Washington Commanders first feared after his overnight X-ray came back negative.
Daniels dislocated his elbow during his team's humiliating defeat by the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football, as he attempted to run in a consolation touchdown.
As linebacker Drake Thomas brought Daniels down, the quarterback put his left arm down to break his fall, but he dislocated it in the process and was helped off the field wearing a padded brace.
While it appeared his season was over, that may now not be the case, with NFL insider Ian Rapoport reporting that the belief is that the injury is not as bad as it could have been.
Daniels will now undergo a more thorough MRI scan on Monday to determine exactly how long he will be out for.
Fortunately for the 24-year-old, the injury did not occur to his throwing arm.

Furious Commanders fans, meanwhile, took their frustration out on coach Dan Quinn, questioning why Daniels was still in the game when they were losing 38-7.
A particularly angry fan posted on X: 'I don't care. Jayden Daniels getting injured is 100% on Dan Quinn and the coaching staff. No reason why your starting QB should be in the game down 38-7 playing in garbage time.'
Another posted: 'Dan Quinn should be fired for letting Jayden Daniels get hurt. Down 31 with 7 minutes left, why is he still playing?'
'No reason Jayden Daniels should have still been playing. That's on Dan Quinn,' a third commented.
Talking about whether Daniels should have still been in, Cris Collinsworth said on NBC's broadcast: 'That's a fair question. I was thinking about it, too.
Daniels was put into a padded brace and managed to walk off the field under his own power
'You know him. You know he doesn't have that half speed. He's going to take off and run and do everything he could to score that touchdown.
'That's ultimately what got him hurt and nobody is feeling that more than Dan Quinn but yeah, it's fair. It's a tough situation because he means everything to this team.'
When asked about the decision to keep Daniels in, Quinn told reporters: 'Obviously, I'm just gutted by it, just bummed.
'The one he was injured on is usually a run or a throw to the flat - it's not a scramble. So, it wasn't a designed read or play into that spot. If we run it 50 times, it's either hand off or a throw 50 times. So, it's a bummer, man - in a big way.'
