Jerry Jones sensationally hinted that the Dallas Cowboys are poised to complete a trade ahead of the NFL's deadline on Tuesday.

However, the Cowboys owner and general manager refused to reveal the identities of any of the players involved.

'A lot of action going on right now in terms of trading,' Jones told Stephen A. Smith on SiriusXM Radio on Monday.

'We certainly have made a trade, and we may make a couple more trades before that deadline.

'We've made one. We possibly could make two more, and I'm going to wait and let you read about that when we send the papers in tomorrow.'

Cowboys fans will be desperately hoping any new arrivals come on defense after the team's fragility was exposed once again by the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night.

The Cowboys desperately need defensive reinforcements to support their dangerous offense

The Cowboys defense has allowed more than 40 points twice this season and give up over 400 yards in four games.

It is a source of frustration for Jones and head coach Brian Schottenheimer, given how good the Cowboys offense has looked with Dak Prescott, Javonte Williams, CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens and Jake Ferguson.

The Cowboys traded away Micah Parsons, their best defensive player, in the early weeks of the NFL season.

When pressed by ESPN's Scott Van Pelt on the identity of Dallas' new arrival, Jones remained coy but suggested the team will be busy.

'... But seriously, this is the time when we have a chance to help the Cowboys,' he added.

'Anytime that I can do that, we burn the midnight oil. There's a good chance that we'll have some things to talk about tomorrow.'
