New York Jets running back Breece Hall has lashed out a reporter for 'nagging' teammate Justin Fields, accusing him of a 'pathetic move' in the team's locker room.

Brian Costello of the New York Post revealed on X that he approached Fields, who was recently benched as the Jets' starting quarterback, at his locker to get his reaction to head coach Aaron Glenn's decision.

'He said he was going to get a massage and did not have time to talk,' Costello wrote before adding, 'I asked his reaction to move. "There’s no reaction. That’s life. S*** happens."'

After seeing his post, Hall then fired back at Costello in a response which quickly went viral.

'Pathetic move by you tbh,' the 24-year-old said. 'Wish some of yall would grow up and stop acting like little kids nagging somebody till they get mad lol.'

He also reposted another user saying: 'NY media be like a 4 yr old kid asking "why, why, why, why"'.

Fans were divided over Hall's criticism of Costello, with some joining him in taking aim at reporters covering the Jets.

'Honestly, it’s exhausting watching grown-ups act like this time to grow up and move on,' said one.

'Amen!! Love seeing someone on the Jets stick up for Fields,' wrote another.

Others, however, argued that reporters are entitled to ask players such questions.

'Seems pretty reasonable to be honest. Obviously going to be asked questions he doesn’t like [being] a athlete,' one posted.

While another put: Love you Breece but this ain’t it. You guys get paid tens of millions of dollars you can handle being asked a singular question about your job. It’s a perfectly fair question for a reporter to ask for a reaction.

'With respect to Fields or anyone else, don’t suck at your job and you won’t get asked these questions.'

Fields has been demoted as the team's starting quarterback for the second time this season

Earlier this week it was revealed that Fields has been demoted for the second time this season, with Tyrod Taylor set to replace him against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

Glenn tried to swap Fields for Taylor earlier this season and it backfired dramatically. Taylor, 36, ended up hurting his knee in practice after being told that he was No 1, so Fields came back in as the starter and led the Jets to their first win of the season by beating the Cincinnati Bengals .

After a bye week, Fields won another game when the Jets beat the Browns at MetLife Stadium but last Thursday, it was a dire display in the 27-14 loss to the New England Patriots.

And it appears that has prompted Glenn to try again with Taylor, someone he has spoken highly of.
