Indonesian Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi said that only around 50 percent of Eid homecoming travelers have returned to the western region via the toll road during the 2025 Eid homecoming flow. This number was recorded until D+6 of Eid or Sunday, April 6, 2025.
"From the estimated 2.2 million homecoming travelers until this morning, there are still around 1 million who have not returned," said Dudy as quoted by Gooto from the Antara news site today, Tuesday, April 8, 2025.
Dudy said that this number will be broken down in the next few times. He also said that there are several plans to reduce traffic congestion during the return flow.
The Minister of Transportation gave an example of the use of the Cisumdawu Toll Road, West Java, to anticipate an increase in the return flow from the East. Then, there is also the Japek II Functional Toll Road which was opened to reduce the flow from the direction of Cipularang.
"Cisumdawu is used if the current generation from the East is high. From Cisumdawu to Cipularang it will be free. The Japek II Toll Road is also adequate and can parse well," he said.
In addition, Dudy also said that the arterial route is still adequate to accommodate the flow of vehicles from the west that will go east, especially when the one-way lane is implemented on the toll road.
