TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has arrested a former Director of Enforcement and Investigation (P2) of the Customs and Excise Office in a covert operation within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. This covert operation is suspected to be related to the process of importing goods into Indonesia.
"The import activities carried out by private parties have led the KPK to suspect the occurrence of criminal acts of corruption committed by these parties," said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK headquarters in South Jakarta on Wednesday.
Budi refused to provide further details regarding the suspected import cases involving several Customs and Excise employees. However, Tempo has received information that one of the high-ranking officials who was apprehended had recently been transferred from the DJBC central office to the regional office in Lampung.
Most of those arrested are already at the KPK offices. "The KPK has also secured several individuals in Jakarta and Lampung," Budi stated.
Budi stated that investigators confiscated evidence in the form of cash, both in Indonesian rupiah and foreign currencies, as well as three kilograms of gold.
Tempo has confirmed the arrest of the Customs and Excise officials with the Director General of Customs and Excise, Djaka Budi Utama, and the Director of Communication and User Guidance of DJBC, Nirwala Dwi Heryanto. As of the release of this news, neither has provided a response.
In this sting operation, the KPK also searched the Ministry of Finance's DJBC Head Office on Jalan Jenderal Ahmad Yani, Rawamangun, East Jakarta, today.
Tempo's observation at the location found that a group of KPK Enforcement Deputy personnel left the Customs and Excise central office at around 3:25 PM local time. "Yes, they just returned. There were about seven cars," said one of the security personnel at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise Head Office.
This security personnel mentioned that dozens of KPK investigators arrived to inspect all the rooms in the Sumatera Building. It is known that the building serves as the office for the P2 Directorate of DJBC under the Ministry of Finance.
However, the security personnel stated that they were not aware of what evidence was seized during the search. "We do not know about that, we apologize," they said.
