TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta office of the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) targets 360,000 Indonesian tourist arrivals in Korea this year, after recording pre-pandemic figures in 2024. Indonesia ranks 9th globally and 4th in Southeast Asia as one of the largest contributors of international tourists in South Korea.
Last year, as many as 336,165 Indonesians visited the country, surpassing 2019 figures of 275,575 Indonesian tourists.
The Director of KTO Jakarta, Kim Ji Sun, said the surge in tourist arrivals from Indonesia marks the increasing popularity of South Korea as a foreign tourist destination. This achievement is supported by the ever-growing Hallyu wave, the Visit Korea Year 2024 campaign, and regulations that facilitate Indonesians’ travel to South Korea.
According to Kim Ji Sun, other factors that drive tourists to Korea include the increased frequency of flights from Korean Air and Garuda Indonesia, new direct flights from Jeju Air and Air Busan, new transit flights from various international airlines, and the waiver of electronic group visa fees to Korea until December 2025. Furthermore, the support of the tourism industry has been involved in promoting Korea as one of the popular tourist destinations in Indonesia.

Kim Ji Sun said on Tuesday, February 11, that KTO was "pleased" with the news as it illustrates how South Korea's presence in Indonesia has persevered for decades.
According to the tourism office, one of the efforts to further encourage Indonesian tourist arrivals in South Korea is by initiating themed tourism campaigns, from family tourism and sports tourism to MICE.
KTO has also released the 2025-2026 guide of the “100 Must-Visit Tourist Spots of Korea,” which contains 100 iconic destinations across South Korea. Some of these destinations include Seoul Sky, Lotte World, Seoul Forest, Songdo Central Park, Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, Beopjusa Temple, Daecheon Beach, Space Walk, and Bijarim Forest.
