'One of the biggest games of the Arne Slot era'

Welcome to Anfield where we have one of the biggest games of the Arne Slot era. Win and the Dutchman buys himself some credit, regardless of performance. Lose and the fans will be on his back, even if they play well.
He has never been under pressure before so it will be interesting to see how he and the team react - but it is fair to say this game is absolutely must win.

Villa's welcome improvement

By Lewis Browning

It’s almost been the opposite for Aston Villa. They failed to win any of their first five, picking up just three points, but have won their last four.

Last time out they picked up a mega win against Manchester City. They have also beaten Tottenham in that run too, and are now up to eighth in the standings.

Win today, and they will really push down on how serious their ambitions this season are.

Liverpool's barren run

By Lewis Browning

We all know about it. It is a secret no longer. A crisis? Probably.

After winning their first five matches of the new season and looking like they would romp to another Premier League title, Liverpool have lost their last four. Unthinkable, given their last few months.

Would you bet against it becoming five for five here? I’m not sure. But one thing I’m sure of is that Arne Slot needs to sort this out - or he could find himself under a little bit of pressure…
