Follow Daily Mail Sport's live blog for the latest score, team news and updates as Liverpool host Everton at Anfield in the Premier League, with Lewis Steele and Oliver Holt reporting from the ground.

Grealish: 'Moyes has given me my love back'

Jack Grealish, Everton winger, speaking to TNT Sports:

It was what I expected, coming here it was hostile, faster. I don't think we played well in the first-half, we came in a half-time and had a chat with the manager and then second half, we lost the game in the second half. Frustrating because if we had played like that, pressed like that from the start it would have been a different game. In the end we couldn't get that last goal.
When I have watched them [Liverpool] this season they have been so good but there has been a few times they have gone 2-0 up and then conceded two, we had the belief. We got the one back, a great finish Idrissa [Gueye] but we couldn't get that last goal.

On playing under David Moyes:

The manager has come out a few times and said, 'It's not down to me, it's down to Jack'; sometimes I disagree. I've come here and he's been so good with me, I have absolutely loved playing for him.
I thank him for giving me my love back and waking up on a matchday and wanting to smile and play again. And the fans, they have been so good with me. I want to come here and make a difference in games like today. Obviously, it wasn't meant to be.

WATCH: Ekitike's winner

If it wasn't for Hugo Ekitike, Liverpool wouldn't have won that match.

I mean, he technically netted the winner.

It was a lovely strike, too. The midfield combination in the build-up was excellent, Ryan Gravenberch's pass was perfect, and the finish was just lovely.

Darwin Nunez would never have buried that so calmly.

Ekitike shines again

Right then, let's talk about this lad, shall we?

I adore watching Hugo Ekitike play football; he really is a joy to watch as he flows around the pitch.

His movement his excellent, similar to that of Fernando Torres in his prime, and boy, his finishing is top drawer too.

If I were Alexander Isak, I would be a little worried about just how well Ekitike is playing right now. Four goals in six starts is undroppable form, let's be real.

The Frenchman took his goal expertly today. The run was brilliant, as was how he popped the ball through Jordan Pickford's legs.

The man is flying right now. What a signing he has been.

That winning feeling

Pure vibes at Liverpool right now.

Isak putting in the hard yards

Why do I feel bad for Alexander Isak while watching this?

There is just something about seeing somebody run solo that makes me feel a bit sad.

I'm sure the striker is fine, though. He may not have got many minutes today, and when he was on, he didn't get into the action much, but his time will come.

What we know now is that he has a real battle on his hands to become the number one striker.

Hugo Ekitike is on fire, but we will get to him later.

Good omens for Liverpool

If I were a Liverpool fan, I would be buzzing.

Not only because they have just seen their side beat their bitter rivals, not just because they are top, but because they just can't stop winning.

Liverpool have won each of their opening five matches of a top-flight season for only the fifth time. It's a real rare feat.

Guess when the last time they managed it?

It was the 2019-20 season. We all know what happened at the end of that campaign. No, I'm not talking about Covid-19, I'm talking about the fact that they won the Premier League.

All the signs so far point to them doing just that again.

'Moyes will be proud of his boys'

Ally McCoist, former Rangers striker, on TNT Sports:

Liverpool came flying out of the traps, got a couple of wonderful goals, and then after that Everton come back into it. When Moyes goes back in and has a cup of tea he will be proud of his boys.

More misery for Moyes

I bet David Moyes can't wait to get out of Anfield.

He hates the place, and this place hates him. The Everton boss remains winless in all 21 of his Premier League games at Anfield (D6 L15).

Pretty bad, right? Well, it's the most games any manager has ever taken charge of at a ground in the competition without winning.

He can be proud of his Toffees, though. They easily could have crumbled after going two-down, but they gave it a right good go and had Liverpool on the ropes.

They rocked them, but just couldn't land the big blow they needed.

Reds maintain perfection

What is it with Liverpool this season, eh?

Once again, they went from coasting to three points to panic stations, but this time they held out.

That will be huge for their confidence. There is no doubt that doubt would have crept into their minds when Idrissa Gueye nailed one into the top corner.

Three times we have seen them buckle, and it just felt like it was going to happen again. The fact that they didn't, though, will do wonders for them.

It's an ominous sign for the rest of the league as Arne Slot's side go six points clear as they maintain their perfect start.

The Reds will only get better, too.

FULL-TIME: Liverpool 2-1 Everton

Liverpool survive!

They have actually managed to hold onto a two-goal lead, for once. No late winner needed.

Everton gave it everything in the second half, got a goal back, and the whole of Anfield was overcome with nerves. But the Toffee couldn't break down their rivals for a second time.

It's five wins from five for the Reds.

Liverpool 2-1 Everton

Liverpool have a corner with one minute of stoppage time to go.

But James Garner has gone down with a cramp to try and get some more added time.

Desperation stations.

THREE added minutes

Is that it?

In an era where we get six, seven, eight minutes of stoppage time, to get three is very rare.

It's now or never for Everton.

CHANCE! Liverpool 2-1 Everton

That's tremendous defending from Milos Kerkez.

Anfield holds its breath as Jack Grealish's cross looks set to land on Jake O'Brien's head.

But Kerkez leaps into the air like a salmon to head the ball out for a corner. Vital.

From the corner, Grealish blazes miles over the bar.

Liverpool 2-1 Everton

It's tense at Anfield, very tense.

Everton are throwing bodies forward and the whole stadium is silent with nerves.

You just feel like there is going to be late drama of some kind here. It's a derby, after all.

SUBSTITUTION: Liverpool 2-1 Everton

David Moyes is rolling the dice as time runs out.

Tyler Dibling comes on to make his Premier League debut for Everton, and Charly Alcaraz joins him.

Vitaly Mykolenko and Iliman Ndiaye come off.

Liverpool 2-1 Everton

How many times?

Liverpool just can't get that final ball right on the counter, and it's causing a lot of frustration in the crowd.

Dominik Szoboszlai takes an age to slide through Mohamed Salah, and it allows Jordan Pickford to come out and hoof his pass clear.

It's getting into squaky-bum territory now.

YELLOW CARD: Liverpool 2-1 Everton

Florian Wirtz is not having a good cameo here.

In the space of a few seconds, he gives the ball away and then picks up a yellow card.

The story of his Liverpool career, so far.

Liverpool 2-1 Everton

That's an odd decision.

James Garner has the chance to whip a ball into the mixer from a free-kick, but he decides to shoot.

30 yards from goal, far over on the left, and you shoot? You ain't no Dominik Szoboszlai, bud.

A real waste.

YELLOW CARD: Liverpool 2-1 Everton

Erm... what?

Surely not? Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has just been booked for taking a free-kick too quickly.

That's a joke. That can't be a thing.

CLOSE! Liverpool 2-1 Everton

It's another free-kick 30 yards from goal, and guess who is standing over it?

Dominik Szoboszlai.

There is no way he is crossing this, and the midfielder hammers his right boot through the ball.

It dips, it swerves and... it goes over the bar.

Lightning can't always strike twice, especially with free-kick's that far from goal.

Jack Grealish and Thierno Barry of Everton form a wall to block a free kick taken by Dominik Szoboszlai of Liverpool during the Premier League match between Liverpool and Everton at Anfield on September 20, 2025 in Liverpool, England. (Photo by Stu Forster/Getty Images)

HUGE BLOCK! Liverpool 2-1 Everton

Jack Grealish to the rescue!

This time he is the hero at the other end as he gets in the way of Ibrahima Konate's header.

It seemed destined for the corner, but Grealish gets his chest in the way. He does well to not use his arm.

I don't think Jordan Pickford would have got there either.

Liverpool 2-1 Everton

Florian Wirtz doesn't know how to shoot, I swear.

In midweek, he took too many chances when chances came his way, and he has done the same again.

Liverpool break, Mohamed Salah sends Wirtz through, and he has to take the effort first time.

But he cuts back and James Tarkowski slides through him.

YELLOW CARD: Liverpool 2-1 Everton

Yet again, Jack Grealish rinses the Liverpool midfield.

He drives past Dominik Szobszlai, and all the Hungarians can do is hack him down.

Yellow card it is.

Liverpool 2-1 Everton

Jack Grealish is having some game, my, my, my...

The man-bun maestro is ripping Conor Bradley apart down the left and is causing Liverpool so many problems.

He whips in yet another cross and Alisson just sirvives after being fouled by Thierno Barry.

SUBSTITUTION: Liverpool 2-1 Everton

What do you do when your team is struggling and is under pressure?

That's right, just bring on a £125m striker.

Alexander Isak comes on to make his Premier League debut for Liverpool, replacing Hugo Ekitike.

'We've seen this film before'

We've seen this film before, haven't we? Liverpool amazing in the first half only to be poor in that period after the break. Passes have started to go astray and Everton think they might be able to force their way back into it, which seemed impossible at half time. Alexander Isak about to come on, though...

Liverpool 2-1 Everton

Liverpool are such a strange team.

Their heads always seem to drop the moment they go two goals up, they have lost all of their momentum.

Ibrahima Konate passes one straight out of play and there is a huge groan from the Anfield crowd.

As my colleague has just said, Everton must be licking their lips.

SUBSTITUTION: Liverpool 2-1 Everton

Arne Slot is not resting on his laurels; he makes some changes.

Cody Gakpo hasn't been great today, bar that one pass, and he is hooked for Florian Wirtz.

Meanwhile, Curtis Jones comes on for Alexis Mac Allister, who does not look happy in the slightest.

Liverpool 2-1 Everton

How the mood can change with one kick of the ball.

The only noise is coming from the awy end and the rest of this place is now overcome by nerves.

They have seen this before... loads.

Goal:Liverpool 2-1 Everton (Gueye 58')

Hello, hello, here we go!

Mamma Mia, here we go again. Everton have one back and Liverpool are crumbling again.

It's one hell of a goal from Idrissa Gana Gue as he bends one into the top corner following a stunning move.

Game on.

CHANCE! Liverpool 2-0 Everton

Wow, what a pass that is!

I was just about to say how poorly Cody Gakpo has played as he looks to have mucked up a promising counter.

But he makes me eat my unwritten words by pinging one hell of a ball over the top to find Mohamed Salah.

Salah tries to bend one into the bottom corner, but Jordan Pickford denies him.

Liverpool 2-0 Everton

Ryan Gravenberch is just so blooming good, jeez.

The midfielder shows his team-mates how to keep the ball, keeping calm under the press and knocking it past a couple of midfielders in the middle of the park.

The man just doesn't get pressed.

Liverpool 2-0 Everton

What is going on? Have Liverpool forgotten how to play football?

The Reds seem to not know how to string two passes together now; they just keep giving the ball away.

The crowd is getting tetchy and this will start to give Everton some confidence now.

Liverpool 2-0 Everton

Liverpool seem as though they are going to be more pragmatic in this half.

We saw Arne Slot instruct his side to play in multiple ways last season, and that's what made them so hard to beat.

And it looks as though Liverpool are looking to protect their lead rather than pull away.

They also look a little sloppy, too.

'Ekitike so sharp'

Ekitike looked so sharp in the first half. Not just the goal he scored but how alive he is to everything, how quick he is in thought and deed. Looking more and more like a very good signing.

Liverpool 2-0 Everton

Hugo Ekitike is such a silly player, in a good way.

So much skill and composure for a big man, it's crazy. He has just flicked the ball over the head of Michael Keane with his heel.

What a player the Frenchman is, he is having some game.

SECOND HALF: Liverpool 2-0 Everton

David Moyes may have just laid into his team at half-time, I just have an inkling.

He makes one change with Thierno Barry coming on for Beto, who struggled in the first 45.

Can he make an impact? We are about to find out.

'Everton have been outplayed'

The away side came here full of confidence but have been thoroughly outplayed, Liverpool absolutely brilliant, playing like champions and the chasm huge. Scorers Gravenberch and Ekitike top, Salah dangerous, Kerkez much better.

Is Gravenberch the best midfielder in the PL?

Right now, yep. Yep, he is.

If you thought that Ryan Gravenberch's breakthrough season was brilliant, he has taken his game up to new levels early doors in this one.

He has been Man of the Match in pretty much all of their games this season. The way he can sweep up the ball, take it on the turn, and drive through the midfield is just incredible. He's so well-rounded.

And now he is even adding goals like that to his game. I mean, just wow.

The Dutchman is in the form of his life.

WATCH: Gravenberch nets stunner

We simply have to watch this goal.

I knew Ryan Gravenberch was a baller, but my word, I didn't know he had this in his locker.

The technique to do produce a dipping effort on the swivel and find the corner is simply ridiculous.

An early contender for goal of the season, maybe?

HALF-TIME: Liverpool 2-0 Everton

What a 45 minutes for the Premier League champions.

A dominant display for the first 30 minutes has them in a commanding position in this Merseyside derby.

Everton did have a bright patch toward the end of the half, but none of their punches rocked the Reds at all.

Arne Slot will be a very happy bunny.

ONE added minute

Can Liverpool make it to the break?

The board goes up to show one minute and Jack Grealish is racing away down the left.

he pulls the ball back for Idrissa Gueye, but he can only find the gloves of Alisson.

Everton are finishing strongly here.

Liverpool 2-0 Everton

Everton are having a decent spell here.

They have reacted really well to going two down and are actually having more of the ball from Liverpool.

Corner, free-kicks, and throw-ins are all being launched into the box, but nothing is doing just yet.

Can they nick one before the break?

Liverpool 2-0 Everton

Virgil van Dijk is having a whale of a time out there.

The Reds captain is having so much fun that he is messing about with James Tarkowski and trying to wind him up.

Dangerous game, as we know what Tarkowski has done to Liverpool in the past.

But then again, Liverpool are on fire today. May as well have fun... for now.

CHANCE! Liverpool 2-0 Everton

Ahhh, Beto, Beto, Beto...

Anfield is laughing at the Everton man's expense because he has just missed a really big chance.

Iliman Ndiaye fires a sizzling low cross straight at him, and the striker gets in a right muddle.

He can't sort his feet out quickly enough and fires miles over.

'Ekitike such an upgrade on Nunez'

As I was saying in my last note on Hugo Ekitike. Wow. What a finish and run off the ball. A beautiful pass from Ryan Gravenberch, man of the match as it stands, too. The Frenchman is just such an upgrade on Darwin Nunez - and that is before we bring Alexander Isak into the equation!

(THE SUN OUT, THE SUN ON SUNDAY OUT) Hugo Ekitike of Liverpool celebrates scoring his team's second goal during the Premier League match between Liverpool and Everton at Anfield on September 20, 2025 in Liverpool, England. (Photo by Liverpool FC/Liverpool FC via Getty Images)

Liverpool 2-0 Everton

Liverpool fans are loving life right now.

'Since 1995' rings around the stadium, and we all know why they are singing that.

It's the year Everton last one a trophy. Harsh.

I did say that the only way we would get a good atmosphere was if Liverpool blew Everton away, and that's what they are doing.

Liverpool 2-0 Everton

What time are we predicting the equaliser then?

I mean, we have all been here before. Liverpool are flying, two goals up, and look like they are going to batter Everton.

But we know what happens with the Reds and two-goal leads this season: they always throw them away.

Liverpool do look different gravy today, though.

Goal:Liverpool 2-0 Everton (Ekitike 29')

LIVERPOOL ARE IN DREAMLAND!

Alexander Isak, are you watching? Hugo Ekitike stakes his claim to be numero uno, and in some style.

Just as Everton were starting to grow into the game, Liverpool threaded together a stunning move to double their lead, and of course, Rayn Gravenberch is involved.

He turns from goalscorer to provider, sliding Ekitike through on goal, and he puts the ball through Jordan Pickford's legs.

A lovely, lovely goal.

CLOSE! Liverpool 1-0 Everton

That's a chance, a BIG chance!

Everton are starting to tick here, and Jack Grealish is getting going. He rinses Conor Bradley down the left for the first time before sliding in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

It's the perfectly weighted pass, but Dewsbury-Hall hammers the ball over the bar.

He really should score there. Everton should be level.

CHANCE! Liverpool 1-0 Everton

That's much better from Everton.

They pump a ball over the top, and all of a sudden, Beto is in, but he then dilly-dallies on the ball, and Ibrahima Konate gets back to foil him.

From that corner, Liverpool launch one hell of a counter and the ball drops to Cody Gakpo.

But the Dutchman wastes the chance and the ball sails over the bar.

Liverpool 1-0 Everton

It's the 20th minute, so you know what that means.

The Diogo Jota song rings around the stadium, with some fans raising his shirt to the sky.

His last goal for the club before his tragic passing was a winner in this very fixture last season.

Liverpool 1-0 Everton

Everton just can't get a touch of the ball here; they are being lit up.

This is by far the best Liverpool have played this season, even better than the start they made against Atletico.

They are hammering at the Everton door, and both Alexis Mac Allister and Conor Bradley see volleys blocked.

The champions will want that second sooner rather than later.

CLOSE! Liverpool 1-0 Everton

What did Mohamed Salah have for breakfast this morning? My word. Whatever it was, I want some.

The Egyptian winger has started on fire, and he nearly bends home an absolute screamer to make it two.

He picks up the ball on the right, cuts in, and unleashes hellfire.

I thought it was in for a second, and so did a lot of this crowd, but it flies just the wrong side of the post.

Liverpool 1-0 Everton

I can't get over that goal, jeez.

The technique from Ryan Gravenberch to score that was quite ridiculous, Daft, in fact.

He didn't manage a single goal in the Premier League last season, but he has scored two stunners within five games now.

What a player.

'The new Zidane'

Ryan Gravenberch always said he styled himself on Zinedine Zidane. Yep.

Goal:Liverpool 1-0 Everton (Gravenberch 11')

WOW, WOW, WOW!

Ryan Gravenberch lights up the Merseyside derby. What a goal that is. My word.

Mohamed Salah dinks a lovely ball into Gravenberch, but he still has so much to do. On the spin, he manages to somehow loop a stunning finish over Jordan Pickford and into the corner.

First blood to the Reds.

'Ekitike the link'

A few glimpses so far of what Hugo Ekitike offers to Liverpool. He is not just in the side to score goals - the Frenchman can drop deep and link up with the midfielders. Another player who will be hard to drop when Alexander Isak is up to full speed.

Liverpool 0-0 Everton

Oh ref...

Terrible touch from the man in the middle as he halts a Liverpool attack.

And people say that Liverpool get preferential treatment, eh? Not going by that.

The hosts do have Everton pinned back at the moment, but the visitors are digging their heels in.

Not much of note just yet.

Liverpool 0-0 Everton

We have the first Milos Kerkez tackle... and he nails it.

I said before the game that he would snap into challenges, and the early signs show that he is already loving it.

He just has to make sure he doesn't mistime one; otherwise, it could all go Pete Tong.

Liverpool 0-0 Everton

OK, OK... maybe I underestimated the 60,000 people inside Anfield.

The atmosphere has picked up a little bit with both sets of fans bantering each other. Love that.

On the pitch, there is nothing to shout about yet, but come on, it's still early days.

It was always going to be a cagey start.

KICK-OFF: Liverpool 0-0 Everton

You'll Never Walk Alone has been sung, team huddles have been had, and we are ready to go.

There was a moment's applause for two former players, Joey Jones and Bobby Graham, who have sadly passed away.

And now we are off.

Moody atmosphere

Why do we put derbies at midday? It's just silly.

The atmosphere here is pretty quiet, and it's all because fans haven't woken up yet.

No matter what the game is, lunchtime kick-offs are always flat.

Unless Liverpool blow Everton away early here, which feels unlikely, I imagine it will be rather quiet throughout the afternoon.

It's so much better when these are night games.

Bradley: 'Derbies are always special'

Conor Bradley, Liverpool defender, on TNT Sports:

Derbies are always special so I'm really looking forward to the game and hoping we can get the win. It's a game you always look forward to. Whenever the fixtures come out this is that game where you look and think, 'where is the derby?' It's a special occasion and it's going to be a great game, they have a really good team so I'm looking forward to it.
It's nice scoring late winners but hopefully we can make it a bit more boring and win the game a bit easier and kill games off whenever we are on top. But I'm not going to complain, a win's a win at the end of the day. Hopefully we get another one today.

Kick-off looms

This is the point in the afternoon when the nerves really hit.

The warm-ups are done, the stadium is filling up, and kick-off is upon us. I imagine both fanbases are really bricking it now.

The atmosphere is still a bit mellow as I type this. That may be to do with the fact that it's lunchtime, or the fact that it's grim here.

Hopefully it gets better come 12.30, eh?

The aggressive derby

Get ready to see some crunching tackles, guys.

People used to see this game as the 'friendly derby', which is just a load of rubbish. Nothing friendly about it.

The amount of red cards in this fixture tells you that.

Everton vs Liverpool has seen more red cards than any other fixture in Premier League history (25), with 11 of those being for David Moyes’ Everton side in 24 games across his two spells, the most any team have had red cards under one manager in a Premier League fixture.

In 15 league games against Liverpool, not as Everton boss, his teams have only had one red card (Nemanja Vidic for Man Utd in March 2014).

Who do you see getting sent off today? My bet is on Milos Kerkez.

'Would Dyche's side suit derby better?'

One thing that I've been thinking today is that, as much as I am excited to seeing the free-flowing Everton starring Jack Grealish, Iliman Ndiaye and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, maybe... just maybe... the stubborn Sean Dyche defensive team would have been better for this game against the champions.

Moody Moyesy

Are you sure you believe, David?

Going by this picture, it doesn't exactly look like it. Moyes looks like he wasn't to be anywhere but Anfield.

In fairness, it's a grim day. The rain is coming down, it's windy, grey, and just not nice.

I miss summer, and it looks like Moyesy does too!

Moyes: 'I believe'

David Moyes, Everton boss, on TNT Sports:

All derbies, any rivalry from a major city is huge. I come from the big city of Glagow where Celtic against Rangers is huge. I'm in Merseyside now and would like to win a few more here, so let's hope that starts today. I have got a lot of belief that the players are in a good position and good form. Hopefully we can show it.
Most of the time over my career I've had to fight against Liverpool who've spent much more and had a lot more going for them than we have. My biggest memories here was finishing above them a couple of times before I left [after his first tenure].

On Vitaly Mykolenko's return:

It's great to have him back. He's not fully fit yet, we could probably do with getting a few more games under his belt but hopefully he will be able to give us a certain amount of minutes in the game, and we'll see how that goes.
Jimmy [Garner] has become really versatile for us and has done well wherever he's played. he is obviously a midfield player by trade but he has shown that he can play at full-back if required.

'Significant call to bring back Bradley'

If Wirtz is the eye-catching selection issue for Liverpool, it also seems significant that Arne Slot has chosen to recall Conor Bradley at right back.
Szoboszlai has been outstanding there in recent games but Jack Grealish is the danger man down the Everton left and Slot clearly feels he needs Bradley's defensive qualities to try to subdue him.

Lucky Liverpool?

I still can't quite believe how Liverpool's season has gone so far. Honestly, how? Just how do they keep finding late winners?

When does it go from 'Liverpool are lucky' to 'this is just what Liverpool do'? I mean, we aren't even far off the latter.

Five from five this season, with four stoppage time strikes already, after Virgil van Dijk scored another one to save the day against Atletico Madrid in midweek.

They could easily have drawn five games this season and have had a honking start to the campaign. But instead, they are top of the league.

The Reds are just inevitable this season, but how long can they keep it up? Surely it can't keep going on like this?

I'm pretty sure Reds fans will want a more comfortable win today, but they would take a late winner if it came to that.

I don't foresee the derby being comfortable, mind. It never is.

'Liverpool will find a way'

Chris Sutton, former Chelsea striker, on BBC Sport:

Everton have started the season well. Jack Grealish has given them that creative spark on the ball and Beto is a tireless runner up front. On top of that, you know David Moyes will make them hard to break down, too.
Liverpool left it late again against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday and I do wonder how much that game will have taken out of them. Still, they have plenty of options in their squad and, while they have not been at their best, they keep on finding a way to win. That's what I think will happen again here.

Moyes rancid record

David Moyes absolutely hates playing at Anfield. I mean, HATES it.

Not only is it the home of Liverpool, but he also has a terrible record there... really terrible.

Moyes has taken teams here on 22 occasions and never walked away with a win. It really is a mental stat/

No wonder he has been badgering on about how much he doesn't like derby day in the build-up, eh?

Today does feel slightly different, though.

Liverpool haven't exactly been setting the world alight, while Everton have been playing some brilliant stuff in the early stages of the season.

Moyes will have a quiet confidence that they can get something today. I think there are a lot of people who believe they can.

Is this the day Moyes breaks his hoodoo?

Kerkez ready for rivalry?

We may all talk about Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz being dropped, but there is some other team news that feels bigger to me.

It's the fact that Milos Kerkez is starting.

With how his Liverpool career has started and how reckless he has been, this is a strange call from Arne Slot.

This derby has a Kerkez red card written all over it, don't you think? The lad loves a tasty tackle and a bit of a scrap, and those happen a lot in these games.

Personally, I think Andy Robertson should have started this one.

'Big call from Slot'

Welcome to a wet and windy Merseyside where, this time last year, the Derby was called off for similar weather conditions. Liverpool have dropped BOTH of Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak.
Does that surprise me? Not hugely, but it is a big call that Everton fans will be relishing. Let's see what they are thinking when both come on around 60 minutes in, though...

Everton Team News - Mykolenko RETURNS

A big boost for Everton.

Everton finally have an out-and-out right-back playing for them again, with Vitaly Mykolenko returning from injury.

Superstar Jack Grealish starts on the left wing and it's Beto who gets the nod up top.

Liverpool Team News - Isak and Wirtz BENCHED

Here is the confirmation.

I expected Alexander Isak to be benched, but it's pretty surprising that Arne Slot has dropped Florian Wirtz. A bad sign, maybe?

Hugo Ekitike and Alexis Mac Allister start in their places, while Coinor Bradley slots in at right-back.

Milos Kerkez comes back in as well... interesting.

Big boys dropped

We are getting tucked straight into the big news, and boy, is it big.

The team news is out, and there are two huge names not starting for Liverpool in this derby.

Arne Slot has left £125m Alexander Isak and £116m Florian Wirtz on the bench. Yep, I know.

That's over £240m of firepower not starting for the Reds. Mental.

Derby day on Merseyside

Nothing beats derby day, does it?

These games are always massive. It's a match where form goes out the window completely. Yes, the Reds may have be top of the table with a perfect record, but that means nothing on derby day.

The fans making their way to Anfield right now will be bricking it, no matter what colours they are wearing.

Screams of passion, ferocity, joy, and anguish will be heard in the Anfield stands from 12.30 onward. It may be a gloomy lunchtime kick-off, but that won't stope this atmosphere being cracking. Well, I hope so.

It's Liverpool vs Everton. Red vs Blue. Arne Slot vs David Moyes.

Get yourself a cuppa, sink into the sofa, and get ready for the ride , it's going to be one hell of one.

Let's get crackalacking then, shall we?
